Vehicle Detail
1995 BMW 840ci. I am the original owner and purchased the car new from a dealer in Southern IL in 1997. The car was apparently in the Chicago Auto Show and BMW talked the dealer into buying it for their inventory. The car sat in the dealer’s inventory for 2 years before I purchased it from them! It was rarely driven while I lived in NYC but was used on and off as a daily driver from Dec 97 until 07 in Texas. The car sounds and runs great and it was very well maintained prior to being garaged in 2007. The car has not been on the road for 2 years after it failed the Texas Inspection emissions test. I believe the catalytic converters are the culprit as the oxygen sensors were replaced with the catalytic converters in ‘05 or ‘06. During the winter of 2008, I started it up in the freezing cold and let the defroster run full blast....the windshield cracked. Never heard of this happening before, but I have proof! The fuel tank sender is faulty so it usually reads empty no matter the fuel level. Headliner a bit saggy by the sunroof. The only major body damage was sustained while the car was parked in front of my house after running an errand to Home Depot....a pick-up truck clipped the passenger side fender. The fender was replaced as were a few suspension bits. The car has a few dings and scrapes but nothing too bad, expect that most can be removed with a good dentless repair service. On another occasion, someone broke the passenger side window to get at a few dollars I had in the console. The window was replaced with a new OEM piece and is not detectable. The AC does not work but the heater works great as do the other accessories. The ContiSportContactTires 235/50/ZR16s have dry rot from extended storage.
