Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 2001 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab 4X4 V6 This was my truck, since buying from the original owner in 2004, until last August when a young man in a new Acura customized it at a nearby intersection. To be clear: it is what most people would call Totaled. Besides the obvious sheetmetal and mechanical damage (i.e. it’s currently a tricycle), the frame is at least a little bent. The other car hit right on the right front wheel, ripped off the wheel and knuckle from the upper ball joint, tore the lower A-arm in half, popped the tie rod end, and pulled the axle out of the transaxle. It pushed the whole cab to the left about an inch, relative to the bed. Then it hit the right rear wheel, breaking the main spring leaf off at the front perch – the rear axle moving back pulled the rear driveshaft apart at the slip joint. The passenger’s door has been ajar since the accident, so the interior is a little dirty as a result. On the positive side (for you), at my last insurance renewal before the accident, I decided I didn’t need to keep collision insurance on a truck almost 10 years old with 170,000 miles – and since I was turning left when my friend hit me, it was automatically deemed my fault – SO, no insurance company paid out for this truck, therefore it still has a clear CT title, not a salvage. [I didn’t know at the time to blame it on “Unintended Acceleration” and sue Toyota!] Also, since the impact was to the right front wheel, the air bags did not deploy. The frame is very solid, other than being slightly bent – so I’m sure it could be straightened. Before the accident, there were no problems – engine, transmission, 4WD, brakes, everything operated as new. My original intention was to find another Tacoma with a bad engine or drivetrain – the problem is that the 3.4 V6 and 5-speed doesn’t seem to go bad very often. But, the 3.0 V6 in the previous generation of Tacoma wasn’t quite so hearty, and this drivetrain can be swapped into one of those pretty easily. Instead, I’ve decided it just needs to go. The truck has a color-matched Leer “Camper-Cap”, and I recently purchased new suspension parts for it: Heavy-duty front coil springs, for about 2” of lift; front aluminum spacers for another 2”; a transfer case lowering kit (to maintain driveline angles); rear Add-A-Leaf kit; rear 2” lift blocks; and rear extended-length shocks - All the parts to raise the truck 4", and increase it's carrying capacity. I know I would make more of my money back by selling these things separately, but just this once I am going to try selling the whole thing as a package, with a very low reserve - so the cap and suspension ARE included. If my reserve isn’t met this time, I will separate into three auctions next time. The high bidder after the reserve is met will have 48 hours to get me a $200 deposit via PayPal, and 7 days to pay balance (cash or cashiers' check), and pick up the truck – obviously on a flatbed. You know the rest: This is sold AS-IS, no warranty expressed or implied. Please read the description carefully before asking questions, but feel free to ask anything or request more photos. I encourage you to come see the truck before you bid, to avoid misunderstanding. Thank you, and good luck!
