Vehicle Detail

This is an unrestored 1972 R75/5 short wheel-base motorcycle with chrome "Toaster Tank" & battery covers outfitted with Craven saddle bags. Sold as is. Normal.dotm 0 0 1 294 1679 CLC 13 3 2061 12.0 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false I've had the R75/5 for 10 years and hate to sell it, but I need the space in our small garage. I ride to work, but with 2 kids in car seats I don't get to ride it enough. So with limited space and growing kids, it needs to go. Hope it finds a good loving home. It's obviously unrestored, but runs great. As seen in the pictures, after 38 years the paint is not perfect. There are some dings from an old Vetter fairing and handlebar set backs. The rear fender is a lighter blue and different color pin stripes. The previous owner must have stripped the fill plug to the shaft-drive housing; their remedy was to install a plumbing plug. It works, but it could be tapped and Heli-Coiled. I believe the Craven bags had 2 latches each that made the tops removable. When I bought the bike the Craven bags had hinges and latches from the hardware store, so the hardware (nuts, bolts, handles, latches, & hinges) are not original. The rear tire is a little worn; I bought the front with the rear about 5 years ago. Carbs were rebuilt a few years ago with new throttle cables. The generator was upgraded with a new rotor from Mottarad Electric. Just installed a new Odyssey Battery (April 18, 2010). Barrington Cycle Werks rebuilt the rear wheel with stainless spokes. Installed a R65 headlamp (bought new) as an upgrade when I removed the Vetter fairing. Also replaced handlebars with lower stainless handlebars. Installed new clutch and brake cables and I also have new spare cables from Hucky's Spare Parts. I bought new Epco stainless mufflers a few years ago. The rpm gauge, odometer and speedo work, but since BMW made the speedo read fast on its bikes, I installed a bike computer that gives more accurate read on speed, has trip meter, top speed, etc. The bike computer can be removed without leaving a trace or you can know your actual speed. Like a lot of old Beamers, it smokes on start up. Its garage kept. Half the miles on the odometer are mine; mostly from the 1st 5 years I owned it. I'm not the 1st owner or 2nd owner (bought the bike from a friend in AL who had no clue if he was the 2nd owner.) Contact me if you have any questions. Buyer is responsible for picking up the bike. Will not ship. Pay $50 deposit via PayPal. Pay full amount with cash or cashiers check within 7 days and before pick up. Pick up within 2 weeks.
