Vehicle Detail
Hello, let me start by saying that I realize how stressful it can be to buy anything sight un-seen. I don't think a paragraph & 1 or 2 pictures is enough to accurately describe an item of any kind, let alone a motorcycle. I understand that you may be in a different state or even a different Country & therefore are unable to come view this Gold Wing in person. I want you to know everything I know about anything I offer for sale. For that reason, my postings tend to be a little on the long side. I also post 24 super sized pictures. Please take the time to read the item description & view the pictures. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. I have sold motorcycles to buyers all over the world. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that I recently sold a BMW R1200R to a buyer in Spain & he loves it! I have a full 5 star for item as described & for communication. I also have a 100% positive feedback rating overall. Everyone seems to be very happy with what they buy from me. I'm sure you will be also. I would venture to say that this is the nicest Classic Gold Wing on the market. It is definetely the nicest 85 Aspencade I have ever encountered. I have personally owned several of these iconic motorcycles & looked at dozens more. None have come close to the condition of this beautiful bike. This Aspencade is simply amazing! This Honda was bought new by a local man here in Eastern Georgia & that is where it has remained it's entire life. The man kept the motorcycle in his den which explains it's nearly perfect cosmetic condition. Unfortunatly he passed away a few years ago & his Son inherited the bike. I heard about it through a neighbor who works with the Son. I contacted him & went to look at the motorcycle. He had kept this bike in his climate controlled garage since settling his Father's estate. He told me that he had let a friend ride it around the neighborhood every few months just to keep it in good working order. I was in the market for a Gold Wing for my Father & Step Mother & knew I would never find another bike like this. After several tries I was able to buy the bike. I have had the motorcycle for a couple of weeks waiting to surprise Dad with it & last week found out that my Step Mom has just injured her back & is scheduled to have major surgery. There is no way she will be able to ride on a motorcycle anytime soon & Dad won't ride without her so the bike needs to go. As much as I hate to sell such a rare find... there is no point in letting the bike sit when someone could be enjoying it. So here it is... a 1 owner classic wing that has been kept in the house it's whole life, is in nearly brand new condtion & has extremely low miles... with NO RESERVE!!!!!!! COSMETICS- This is a super rare find. It is a 1985 Gold Wing GL1200 Aspencade that is wearing all of it's original Champagne & Taupe two tone paint which was a very low production color combo. Like everything else on this Honda, the paint is in amazing condition. I did nothing more than hand wash & dry the motorcycle prior to taking the pictures. I did absolutely no touch-up's & I can find no previous touch-up's. I didn't even wax the bike & just look how it shines. There is no fading at all anywhere. There are no dents. No dings. No cracks in the fairing. No cracks in the side panels. No cracks in the saddle bags. No cracks in the trunk. There aren't even any cracks around the speaker covers or instrument cluster. Every clasic Wing I have every seen has at least a small crack around the radio or speaker covers but not this one. THIS GOLD WING HAS NO CRACKS AT ALL ANYWHERE PERIOD! Other than a very few tiny rock chips & superficial light scratches... all of the paint & plastics look just like new on this 25 year old bike. You can see in one of the pictures that the factory pinstriping was smeared in a couple of small areas. This had to have happened early in the bikes life, before the vinyl stripes had time to fully harden. You can easily restripe the bike if the little marks bother you. They are hardly noticable, I just felt you should know they were there. The factory black paint on all of the framework, swingarm etc... also looks just like new. The factory silver paint on the engine/tranmission components is also flawless! All of the factory information stickers located all around this motorcycle are clearly readable, just like new. All of the chrome & aluminum metal work is in amazing condition. Again, I didn't do a full detail on this motorcycle. I didn't polish any of the metal at all. It's been kept indoors it's whole life & just looks amazing all the time. There is no rust or pitting on anything that I can find. There are no scrapes or scuffs. Everything is nice & tight. Everything is straight. Everything is just as it should be. MECHANICS- The bike seems to be in perfect mechanical condition as well. The liquid cooled, 1200cc, 4-stroke pancake four cyclinder engine is one of the smoothest running, most dependable, quietest, most powerful & most economical motorcycle engines ever made. This engine starts easily, does not smoke, does not knock, does not tick, does not skip, does not overheat & does not leak a drop of anything. I know I have said it a lot in this ad but... it is AMAZING how well this motorcycle runs. JUST LIKE NEW! The 5-speed overdrive transmission shifts flawlessly. The clutch feels great. The brakes stop well & do not pulsate. However, I do here a squeak from the rear brake from time to time. OPTIONS- This is an Aspencade so it is fully loaded with factory options & has several additional owner installed options. Factory options include a fully digital instrument cluster with easy to read speedometer, tachometer, gas gauge, temperature gauge, trip meter & gear selection display to let you know exactly which gear your in with just a glance. There is also an analog odometer, a neutral light, a low oil light, a low fuel light, a high beam indicator light, turn signal indicator lights & a tail light out indicator. All of this important information is readily displayed for you at all times. This model is equipped with factory fully adjustable air ride suspension, complete with onboard compressor. This system allows you to set the air pressure in the front or rear shocks with the touch of a button. The controls for this system are just in front of the your right knee when seated on the bike. The system is easy to use & allows you to change the ride of the motorcycle as needed. For instance, you may want to add a little air to the rear if you are riding with a passenger. Or you may want to add a little to the front if you are riding through curvy mountain roads. You may want to set the pressure low for a very soft ride if you a cruising long distances on the freeway. When you are adjusting the pressure there is a display which appears in the instrument cluster to let you know what level you are at in the front & in the rear. This factory air ride suspension works just as it did back in 1985. There are no air leaks. There are no busted or weather cracked shock boots. Again, just like new. There is also a front hub mounted adjustment with 3 settings. This adjustment allows you to set the overall ride parameters of the front suspension depending on your terrain. One setting is for rocky offroad terrain. One is for icy conditions & one is for normal on-road conditions. Most people will never use this adjustment. Just leave it in the on-road setting & roll. But, it is there if you need it. The bike has a factory throttle-lock cruise control which works great for those long freeway rides. This model also came factory with a top of the line Panasonic am/fm cassette radio with weather band, integrated intercom system, handle bar mounted channel selector & mute control. The system works just as it should. It sounds great! Included are two headsets for this system. They will mount to any helmet & plug into the factory intercom jacks on the bike itself. These allow the rider & passenger to listen to the radio without having the dash mounted speakers on. It also allows the rider & passenger to speak to each other. (This motorcycle is so smooth & unbelievably quiet, my Fiance & I can speak to each other in a normal voice while cruising at 70MPH & still understand each other perfectly, without even using the intercom!) This obviously has a full front fairing with a windshield. I like the fairings on these bikes better than that found on a touring type Harley. The Harley fairings are mounted to the front forks & thus move with the handle bars. That means when you turn you are having to move the extra weight of the fairing. At low speeds, like in a parking lot, this added weight makes the bike harder to maneuver. The Gold Wing fairing is frame mounted so it is stationary. When you turn the handle bars the fairing does not move. You are just turning the forks & wheel. You do not have to deal with the added weight of the fairing & as such... slow speed handling requires far less effort so it is far more comfortable. Gold Wings are known for their huge amount of storage. This bike has locking storage in the top of the gas tank, on the right side of the dash, in both hard saddle bags & in the rear trunk. All of the locks are factory original to this bike & are all working & keyed the same. I have both of the factory Honda Gold Wing keys which fit the ignition & every other lock on the bike. The trunk is perfect. No cracks. The hinges are nice & tight. As are the latches. The trunk is rated at 20 lbs. inside with an additional 10 lbs. on the lid mounted luggage rack. Inside the trunk lid you will find a vanity mirror. Behind that you will find another storage compartment large enough for a camera or similarly sized items. The side saddle bags are very roomy & very clean. They are each rated for 20 lbs. of cargo & are also free from cracks or damage. Inside the right hand saddle back you will find a special campartment containing the factory tool kit. This kit still retains all of it's original tools. Very rare! There are also snapped & zipped type storage compartments on the dash & underneath both of the rear passenger's arm rests. There is enough room for everything you could need for a road trip. However, should you want to set out on a 2 or 3 month trek around the country... you can always put a trailer behind this Wing. They pull very well behind these GL1200's. The previous owner added a few additional features which greatly increase the comfort level of this bike. He added floor boards for the rider & passenger. He added a heel-toe shifter. He added engine guards with highway pegs. He added windshield side extensions. He added a factory upgraded seat which is mounted on slides & is adjustable to 3 positions, just like the seat adjustment in your car! He also added a fully adjustable driver's backrest which can be completely removed in a matter of seconds. He also added a very high dollar full exhaust system from Honda Performance. This system is stainless steel & provides more power & better fuel economy than stock, yet it is quieter than stock. You can bearly tell this bike is running when cruising down the highway! He even added a 20 oz. bottle holder to the dash in front of the driver's left knee. A Coke or a water or anything else in a 16-20 oz. bottle can be popped in & out of this holder with ease. It works great on hot days when you are sitting in traffic somewhere. It's the little things that impress me the most! I even have the factory owner's manual for this amazing motorcycle. I have 2 matching 3/4 helmets complete with storage cloths & currently wearing the factory intercom head sets. They are size medium & size large. You can tell they have been in & out of storage since they have a few scrathes here & there but they show no wear from use & are included with this auction. The front & rear tires are both showing 30-50% wear & no storage deterioration so they should be good for a few more trips. The previous owner told me that he had Motions Honda of Marietta GA service the bike & replace the battey at the end of last Winter. He could not provide me with a receipt for this service but I have no reason to doubt him. The oil looks clean & the battery appears new. TITLE- I have a clean, clear, open, fully transferrable title for this motorcycle. There are no brands, no liens & it is not a replacement title. It is an original issued by the State of Georgia. I bought this beautiful bike for my Dad so it was not purchased through my business. Therefore there will be NO SALES TAX DUE ON THIS BIKE. This is a private party sale so no tax & as always... I do not charge any hidden fees or doc fees like some sellers on here. Your bid amount is what you pay! Not one penny more! * This is a TRUE auction! * NO RESERVE! * Low starting bid! * You set the price! * Bid what you feel this classic Gold Wing is worth to you! * If you are the high bidder at the end... YOU WIN! BIDDING- Please only bid what you are prepared to pay for this motorcycle. Anyone wishing to inspect the bike or have the bike inspected is welcome to do so but inspections must be completed prior to bidding & prior to auction's end. If you have little or no feedback please do not bid without first sending me your contact info through the ASK SELLER A QUESTION link in this listing so that we can speak on the phone prior to you placing your bid. I have encountered a couple of crooks/ scammers here on eBay who have cost me both time & money. This will no longer be tolerated so if you are not a SERIOUS buyer, PLEASE MOVE ON. All members with a genuine interest in this bike are more than welcome to ask questions. All will be answered promptly. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that all of the REAL buyers have been very happy after dealing with me. Many of the comments are from people who have been very happy with street rods, motorcycles & diesel trucks they have bought from me. I am sorry but I am unable to offer any type of financing on this motorcycle. Please have the funds to cover your bid amount before placing your bid. SHIPPING- Shipping a motorcycle is far less expensive than you may think. There is a link in this listing, just under the price, near the top of the page. The link says vehicle shipping quote available. If you click on that link you will automatically be given several shipping quotes from reputable shippers. These prices are to ship this bike from my door to yours. If you are interested in shipping the bike, you should check these quotes. My customers have shipped bikes with many of these companies & never had any problem at all. I have no problem working with you & your chosen shipper to get you this bike as quickly & cost effectively as possible. However, shipping costs & arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer, ie YOU. No matter where you live, how you choose to pay, or if you have the bike shipped or not... the legal point of sell will be here in GEORGIA as that is where I live & where the vehicle is located. As always, you are more than welcome to pick this bike up in person. I will be happy to pick you up at the Atlanta Airport or local Amtrac station, free of charge, if you would like to ride this bike home or rent a U-Haul truck to transport it in & then simply turn the U-Haul in at your local rental center. This option has worked well for buyer's over the years. But if it were me, I would contract with one of ebay's recomended shippers to bring my bike right to my door. They are fully insured & far cheaper than you may think! I have owned just about every kind of motorcycle known to man. When it comes to touring bikes, nothing comes close to a Gold Wing. I like the newer models but to me they don't provide quite as nice of a ride as these GL1200 Wings. The new Gold Wings are far heavier than this classic Aspencade. The new bikes are far more complex than these older Hondas. They are so heavily reliant on computer controlled systems these days... you can't even change your own oil without an engineering degree. In my experience, the more complex a machine is, the more likely it is to break down. These classic bikes are simple. They had a bullet proof design & were well built. You routinely see these GL1200's with over 100,000 miles & still going strong. However you DO NOT routinely find a 25 year old Gold Wing that has been ridden only 38,000 miles, has been stored in the owners home & is in pristine original condition! Plus this beautiful Aspencade is going to sell for many thousands less than a new Gold Wing! I wish I could keep the bike, even though my parents can't use it. I know I will not soon find another like it. But unfortunatly... I am buried in a Harley Electra Glide that I could never sell for enough to pay it off. My Harley is nearly brand new yet this 25 year old Honda out classes it in every way! This Gold Wing rides like a dream. It is as smooth as glass. It handles great & is extremely comfortable. This is simply an amazing bike! Thanks for your interest. I hope you win. JD This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.
