Vehicle Detail
1984 Honda V65 Sabre. 1100cc. 121 h.p. Sport Touring bike. 32000 miles. Hondaline fairing, engine guards, and passenger backrest. I am listing this bike for my friend. The listing will not end early for any reason. He recently purchased a Honda Blackbird and no longer rides this. I'll tell you what I know about it and give you his e-mail at the end. In 1984 the Honda V65 Sabre was the fastest production bike ever built. It held this title for about two weeks when Suzuki introduced the GS1150es. Never the less, the Honda is a really nice machine. Smooth V4 motor, relaxed ergos and pretty nimble handling for such a large bike. This particular example is in good condition with some scratches and a small ding or two. It has been maintained professionally. Recent service at 30,000 mi. included oil change, spark plugs, valve adjustment, carburetor sync, brake pads, final drive fluid, and drive shaft spline lube. Front tire looks good, rear should be replaced before too long. Current rubber is Metzeler ME 880's they were installed last summer. I've been riding it for the last few days and here is what I've noticed about this bike. I am fairly familiar with the V65 Sabre as I bought one new in 1984 from Nicholson's in Ann Arbor, Mi. and rode it for about 10 years. This bike runs great, sounds great, the transmission is very smooth, the bike handles nicely and the suspension feels good. There are no real mechanical issues, just some small details that bear mentioning. The faults I noticed are as follows: 1) The left hand grip is loose on the bars. 2) The gauge lenses are a bit hazy. 3) There is a 1 1/2 to 2 inch tear in the front of the saddle where it contacts the gas tank. 4) It is missing two of the eight mounting screws for the windshield. 5) The throttle cable is a bit stiff. It could use some lube. 6) People stop and ask you about the bike. 7) The clutch lever is bent down a little bit. Not much, but you can tell it is bent. 8) As far as I can tell, there are two small dings on the bike. One is shallow and about the size of a dime on the tank, the other is a pin point ding on the top of the right exhaust pipe. Garrick informed me of two other issues. Occasionally, the turn signals need to be manipulated manually and once in a while the starter will not engage on the first push of the button. I have not noticed either of these defects while I've been riding the bike these last few days. Outside of these defects, this a really nice example of the Honda V65 Sabre. The owner's name is Garrick and his e-mail is langgarrick81@gmail.com. Please contact him with any questions you have about the bike. I'll do what I can to help out. Thanks for looking, Dave. On May-17-10 at 04:47:27 PDT, seller added the following information:I've been asked to photograph the scratches and dings. I tried to get them on my camera this morning. I can't get a photo to show them, so I'll try to describe them as well as I can. There is a small, shallow dent in the tank. It is about the size of a dime and to see it you have to look at the tank from just the right angle. There are some rub marks in the paint on the lower right corner of the tank where it contacts the seat. These marks appear to to have been caused by the tank bag that Garrick was using. There is a 3 in. scratch on the front of the tank behind the fairing. There are some small scratches on the black plastic radiator cover on the right side. There is a pin point ding on the top of the right side exhaust pipe. I saw it the other day when the bike was outside in the sun, but I could not find it this morning in the garage when I tried to take pics. The bike is otherwise quite nice cosmetically. The fairing, mirrors, side and tail pieces are all in really good shape. If you use a tank bag you will never notice any of the marks on the tank. I hope this helps.
