1940 Chevy Custom Deluxe -- truck conversion This car/truck was found tucked away in a barn that a coworker purchased in the 80s. I don't know much about the history because the farm was purchased in an estate sale. As you can see in the pictures this car was originally a sedan that was cut in half and converted to a truck likely to take over the day to day chores. I would estimate this was done in the 60s or 70s if not earlier. The back half of the sedan was cut off and then welded to the front to create the cab of the truck and then a wood bed was constructed. The bed still looks good and even has a handcrafted tailgate but the floor boards are very weak and crumble from dry rot. The interior is deteriorated given the age but the dash is intact and looks in good shape. The front half of the truck looks to have the original black paint in good condition and the back was sprayed to match. There is very little rust on this truck. The only major rust is the driver side floor pan. This truck also has an original and rare Fulton SunShield which is in great condition. This truck has been in covered storage since we purchased it in the 80s and likely for many years before that. It is in surprisingly good condition given the age. We have never tried to start it but the engine looks entirely intact and original. It rolls easily and should be easy to transport on a dolly. This truck would make a great rat rod, or throw a blanket over the seat and drive it in original unrestored condition. Either way, this car is classic and very unique. I will look for the vehicle title but this is being sold without the title, if I find it I will include it with the sale. Truck will need to be picked up and trailered.
