Up for auction is a 1998 Ford Escort ZX2. This is a decent running little car that gets about 35 miles per gallon. We have owned it for almost a year and have not had any major problems. This car does need minor work. The main issue is what I believe is the transmission modulator. When the car is warmed up, it shifts fine but when it is cold, it doesn't shift into 4th gear (as if you are driving in regular drive instead of overdrive). I have talked to a couple mechanics and have been told that the problem is the transmission modulator. I've been told that this costs anywhere from 100 to 250 to replace depending on whether you have a mechanic do it or do it yourself. The hinge on the glove compartment is damaged, but it does close. There is a dent in the passenger fender that does not interfere with driving. You can see this in the pictures. And finally, my daughter drew on the back of the passenger seat and part of the bench seat with a blue marker. Aside from the listed details, this car also has a 6 disc CD changer.
