Vehicle Detail
Rare 1991 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance first time ever being offered on eBay. For sale in Los Angeles / California Up for auction is a highly original 1991 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance 5.7 V8 in triple black. In addition to its black exterior color, this car has been special ordered with the color matched trim panels (grey plastic on other models) in black, a black d'Elegance interior (a 2,372 $ option in 1991), and a black unmarked vinyl top. This car has been purchased new in 1991 by its first owner, Dr. Vinton Knechtges of Minneapolis, MN from local dealership Routson Cadillac. Dr. Knechtges has been a life long admirer of the Cadillac brand and has owned and driven no less than 45 different Cadillacs throughout his life, this one unfortunately being his last. He owned this car for ten years until his passing in 2001, when his wife Suzanne took over ownership of it. She sparsely drove it for a few years on, frequently being driven by her son, Vinton Knechtges II, around town, before passing away about two years ago. Vinton II then kept the car for sentimental reasons for another two years before he decided to finally part with it in December of last year. I bought the car for its rare color scheme, the great condition (we were planning to take it on a 3,500 mile trip, you see?) and the unique history. This 1991 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance comes with the optional 350 cu.in., 5,7 liter V8 engine producing 185 hp @ 3,800rpm and 300 ft.lbs. @ 2,400 rpm, mated to a 4-speed GM automatic transmission with overdrive that shifts ultra-smooth, just like when it was new. I have found some helpful info on the 1991 Cadillac Brougham here: www.100megsfree4.com/cadillac/cad1990/cad91b.htm (seller assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the information offered in this link). In the last five months since I acquired the car, I have invested about 2,500 dollars into it and its as good as it can be. I put a brand new set of 225/75 R15 Bridgestone white-wall tires on it, had a new fuel pump installed, a new exhaust and new brakes. I have subsequently had it serviced at my local specialists, and all fluids drained and renewed. So, what is not working? The odometer has been showing a familiar trait, it is working well when the car is started in the morning and showing the accurate mileage, then playing up and eventually disappearing altogether throughout the day, just to come back again the next morning... These are 1990s LED digitals and I have been told there is not much one can do about it. Upon arrival in LA, the mileage should be somewhere around the 68,000 mark, if I am not mistaken. The car passed the stringent NJ inspection in March and is ready to go. I have a CarFax at hand which I am happy to share with anyone interested. Since last Saturday my friend and I have embarked on the 3,500 plus mile trip on Route 66 in this car which will bring us to California on Saturday, May 15, a day before the end of this auction. The car will be for sale in Los Angeles as I will be heading back to my home in NJ on a plane. This car needs absolutely nothing but a new owner. Everything in this car works. It has a cold a/c, which I had checked and serviced as well. Power windows, power seats, power antenna, all work as they should. The steering wheel telescopes and tilts, the AM/FM radio plays well through four speakers. All lights, bulbs, safety devices work, the warning lights are all complete and operate as they should. While certainly not its best selling point, the mostly original paint has held up remarkably well. Over the years in Dr. Knechtges' onwership, the body has received its share of small scratches and dings, but all have been taken care of by the good doctor. It appears that in this vein, all four doors have received a paint job some time ago which still shows well. The chrome on the car shines like new all around the car. The car is for sale in the greater Los Angeles area, as I am selling it in the days after our two week drive to the West Coast. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the reserve has not been met. Once the reserve has been met, the auction will run to the end regardless with the highest bidder taking it home. Please bid in confidence and call me prior to bidding if you like: (201) 783-9001 or send me a mail at acatton@automotivepr.com. We speak English - wir sprechen selbstverständlich auch deutsch - nous parlons Francais si vous voulez and vi ogsa snakker Dansk. All international bids and bidders are entirely welcome and we look forward to working with you on any export needs you might have. This auction ends on Sunday, May 16, at 4.00pm PDT / 7.00pm EDT. Don't let this one get away! Now to the legal stuff: This is a 19 year old vehicle, so it is sold AS IS, WHERE IS, with no warranty, written or implied. Upon close of the auction, an immediate non-refundable deposit of 500 USD is due within 24 hours of the end of auction, with the remainder due within 7 days. If the car is not paid in full within 7 days of end of auction, the deposit is forfeited, unless other arrangements are made with me in writing. On May-10-10 at 15:04:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Funny that no one should ask. When I mentioned the 2,500 dollars I invested in this car since January, I forgot to say that of course I have all the receipts documenting the work and cost. I also have a folder of some previous work and documents I have been given by the Knechtges family, including a copy of the last title still in Mrs. Suzanny Cody Knechtges name. I also failed to mention that I have an original new Cadillac buyer's cassette tape that came with the car. I listened to it when I drove the Brougham for the first time. It's all there and it all works. I also uploaded three more images, as I managed yesterday morning to document the current mileage, which stood at exactly 66,220 miles. So, once in California, the stated mileage of ca. 68,000 should be accurate. Bid with confidence.
