It isn't just the last of the Oldsmobile convertibles of the 70's. It isn't just a nice rust free western car. And it isn't just a sweet car that the prior owner spent generously to make it mechanically "right" and ready to go- it's all of the above, PLUS it's a factory 455 V8! Of course the 1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible is the rarest of the big 1975 Oldsmobiles to begin with- only 7,181 were produced in total. But according to the informative site www.1975oldsmobileconvertible.com, almost 90% of the 1975 Convertibles had the 350V8- some 6463 units in all. Another 245 had a 400V8 with a 2 bbl carb, a midyear offering. That leaves only 473 units produced with the 455V8. Sold new in Houston, TX- it has excellent floors and trunk floor and shows very good care. It is now in sunny dry Palm Springs, CA and kept garaged. It's a nice car that was given an average repaint a few years back and while it deserves a better one, it shines up well and receives "thumbs up" from passersby. It was acquired in 2007 from a gentleman who had wanted a Delta in the exact Rose Parade color combination. He started restoring the car mechanically and spent generously to accomplish his goal:Look at all the mechanical work that has been done in the last few thousand miles:New Power Steering pump and hoses at 117, 452 miNew brakes - new pads, new front rotors, even new calipers at 117,565 mi455 V8 engine fully rebuilt at 116,823 at a cost of $6,298includes new coil, plugs, wires, rotor, cap, ignition module, radiator, upper suspension bushings, heater hoses, rebuilt carburetor, and fluidsNew belts, carburetor overhaul, coolant flush and trans flush at 118,163Now has just over 120,000 miles. All told, the receipts total over $9,000.00 and will be furnished to the new owner. With only about 2,000 miles on a fully rebuilt engine, it runs and drives great. Starts easily, idles smoothly. The big Olds is a pleasure to drive. The tires have low mileage and show full tread. The a/c doors cycle properly but is not cold. Power windows and top work although rear quarter windows sometimes need to be assisted. The original interior is very nice- some slight discoloration as shown in pictures.The seats are original and nice- one flaw to driver's seat cushion, the rear seat is almost new. The dash pad has few minor imperfections, the door panels are excellent and the carpet very good. The top boot shows little wear. Outside, the car has a nice, straight rust free body with an older repaint. The sides are fine, but there is checking on the hood and deck lid. There are two tears in the top, as seen in photos. The glass rear window is intact.. The panels are straight, the chrome is VERY nice with no pitting, the wire wheels sparkle, the bumper rub strips are nice. It's not a beat up beach cruiser, it's a very nice, dry western Olds convertible that has been treated to a thorough mechanical restoration. It can be enjoyed as is, or dialed in to be a showstopper.
