Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1980 Triumph Bonneville T140E that I purchased in 2004 with 16,000 miles on it. I bought it from an estate seller, the previous owner had a large collection of motorcycles and this bike was absolutely pristine with original paint and chrome, seat etc and only needing some mechanical refurbishing of normal wear parts. I had the bike completely gone over by professionals who replaced the tires ( Dunlop K-70's) and tubes, downpipe and mufflers, OEM pistons and rings, battery, major rebuild of the Amal II carbs including enrichment plungers, air filters, went over all the electricals and replaced any switches, contacts and bulbs that needed it including new hydraulic senders for the brakes. Recently I had all new fluids done and new speedometer cable installed. At this point I have $6500 in the bike and the bike runs well and starts easily. I am including a bunch of extra stuff with the bike (see last pic)...several manuals, picture books, restoration guide, 1980 official Triumph workshop manual and parts guides, an excellent book on tuning Amal's, extra oil filter plate gaskets, new carb jets, new fork rubber seals, 2 used K&N air filters and a new K&N cleaning and oiling kit, complete gasket set (minus what was already used for the pistons/rings), searchable pdf workshop manual (CD), two new knee-pad rubbers and a set of stainless steel feeler gauges for setting the valves. There is also a tire chock and hold downs for trailering the bike. One minor thing...like I said I just got the bike back from the mechanic who, while replacing all the fluids, wanted to put in a new speedo cable. Well, after riding it a couple times the cable quit turning. I don't know if he put it in wrong, or if the little drive mechanism on the rear tire went bad. Anyway, just assume the little drive needs replacing. It is $63.50 on Mitch Klempf's website right now. Somehow I doubt it's bad, but I'm not the guy to tear into it...and the mechanic is a couple hours away in Phoenix. This is a 7 day, No Reserve auction. Please ask if any questions. Anyone is welcome to test ride the bike, or have a local inspector or mechanic check it out for them. This is a rare example of the best of the Meriden coop bikes with the original Rita ignition and one of the most beautiful of the Triumph tank colors...all original, and beautifully refurbished. Good luck in your bidding! On Apr-29-10 at 00:45:11 PDT, seller added the following information: sorry, typo above...this is a 10 day auction
