1989 FORD RANGER This is a 1989 Ford Ranger that has been converted to a fully electric vehicle. This truck was built in the mid 1990's. The truck is fully electric and will charge on any standard 220 line or it can be charged by solar panels (not included). In city driving the truck will run for 60-80 miles. The truck will go 70 mph (at that speed the batteries drain much quicker). The truck was originally constructed by a tech ed teacher in a Green Bay Public high school. The truck was stored for 5 years after that teacher retired. The truck was then acquired by N.E.W. Lutheran High School in Green Bay. We replaced the batteries and then ran the truck for about three years. The 18 8 volt batteries were then replaced with 12 12 volt gel cel batteries. The truck was driven for two months and the motor controller burned out. The motor controller, motor and charger were then removed. The charger was rebuilt and the motor was serviced and checked. The motor controller was damaged to the point that it could not be rebuilt. The truck uses a manual transmission and you drive it using only second and third gear and no clutch. As the truck is right now it does need a new motor controller which will cost about $1500.00. The school is selling the truck as is. We have two teachers on staff that are very familiar with the truck and how it works. We would be happy to answer any questions and to help the new owner with getting the truck back together. To get the truck to run the motor and charger will need to be reinstalled and a new motor controller will need to the purchased and installed. The body of the truck is in GREAT condition. The costom paint is really nice and most of the stickers on the truck can be easily removed. The interior is ok but could use a redo. If you are sick of paying high gas prices this is the truck for you! The gel cell batteries are about one year old. The truck has a clear title! High bidder is expected to pay a $250.00 deposit by PAYPAL. The remaining balance is due prior to or at the time of pick-up.
