Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction: 2002 Land Rover Freelander SE. This vehicle has been "Babied" since I bought it. I am the original owner and bought it new in 2002 from Land Rover Cary, NC. It has been in for all the scheduled maintainace service except for the 96000 mile service. The body is in great condition, no "Walmart" dents. New Michelin tires were put on at 68809 miles. As far as problems with this vehicle: First as you can see in the dash photo, the Check Engine Soon light is on. I was driving it one morning and the light suddenly came on and the engine started running rough. I carried it to a garage, but not a Land Rover garage. The mechanic ran the test and said it seemed to be the 3rd cylinder intake motor flap. You can start the vehicle, but performance is rough. After you turn the engine off you can hear a noise coming from (I think by looking at a parts catalog) the V.I.S motor, which only lasts a few seconds. Anti-freeze is going somewhere but not on the ground. About once a week I added about 16 ounces to the reservoir. Sometimes you can smell the anti-freeze when the engine is hot. If you take the oil filler cap off and look inside the cap, you can see a sludge. I'm told this may be where the anti-freeze is going. During the winter the windshield would fog up, so I'm guessing a heater core may need replacing. The Air Conditioner will need to be serviced. Last summer it didn't cool as it should. The Sunroof works but, when you close it, it seems the gears are slipping. The rear cargo window works but sometimes it doesn't drop the 1" or so when you open the door. You have to manually push the window down for the door to close properly. It probably needs some adjustment. Again it doesn't happen every time. Other than these problems, when it was running, it road great. Please contact me if you have any questions. A $250.00 deposit is required within 24 hrs of Auction close. Full payment is required within 7 days of Auction close. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Thanks for lookingOn Apr-29-10 at 14:38:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note: After reading my description of this Land Rover I thought I should emphasize the "...performance is rough.." statement. It WILL need to be towed. Bringing it home after the diagnostic test was done I did get it up to highway speed but, it ran rough. Sorry if I didn't make this clearer earlier. Thanks, Tim
