Vehicle Detail
I am listing this car for a friend. 1979 Lotus Esprit. NO TITLE. The car was abandoned by the original owner at my friends shop many years ago. The car is complete. Includes engine and gearbox. The motor has been dissassembled, but it is complete. Transmission it assembled. The car is located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. If you have any questions or if you would like to see the car, call 954-565-6181 ask for John. We reserve the right to endt this auction early if a local buyer shows up with cash. On Apr-27-10 at 12:36:57 PDT, seller added the following information: The response for this car has been overwhelming. We have had many emails and phone calls. We want to be fair to everyone interested in this car. We have decided NOT to sell this car locally, but to leave it on ebay, and let the auction run it's course. The auction ends on Sunday, and the high bidder on ebay will get the car. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!! On Apr-28-10 at 15:21:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok, for those that may be interested in possibly putting this car on the road. Here is some information that may be helpful. My friend is a mechanic. Probably 6 or 7 years ago, this car was brought to his shop for repairs. The owner said he was the original owner and wanted the motor rebuilt and he wanted to boost the performance. So, my friend took the motor apart and found a bad piston. He notified the owner, and told him what it would cost to repair the motor an to do the performance upgrades he wanted. The owner said he would get back to him, and was never seen or heard from again. My friend tried numerous times to locate th owner but to no avail, so the car sat. We did some checking and here is what we found out. The car was last registered in 1991. W know this from the license plate. Because it has been nearly 20 years since this car was registered, the state of FLorida has no record of it's existence. We had an attorney confirm this with the state vehicle records. There are no leins, it was never reported as stolen. It is as if it never existed. So, in order to register and title the car in Florida, here is what must be done. First the local Sheriff must be called out to verify and check the VIN number. Then he must run a check on the car (which we have already done) to verify it is not stolen or that there are no leins, etc. Once this is done he will issue a form confirming this information. Then some forms must be filled out by the new owner, and some fees must be paid, then the state of Florida will issue a new clear title. In Florida this process will cost between 1300.00 and 1500.00. If you do not live in Florida, you may want to check the laws in your individual state. It may cost less. If you are the winner, and it is easier or cheaper to title the car in Florida first, then title it in your state we will gladly help you with the process. On Apr-29-10 at 13:36:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added the VIN number above. In case you missed it it is 77120579H. :-) On Apr-30-10 at 23:31:57 PDT, seller added the following information: I recieved this email, so I wanted to share it with everyone. Dear captdan, One last bit of info. If the VIN is 77120579H, The first two numbers denote the year it was built, the second two numbers denote the month it was built, the next four numbers denote the production number and the letter at the end denotes which market it was built for (H stands for North America). If it was built in December 1977 it could be a '77 or '78 model year S1. The S2 replaced the S1 in mid '78. Cheers, Tim I don't know much about Lotus cars. I apologize if I got the year wrong. We were told it was a '79.
