Vehicle Detail
This is a 1930 FRANKLIN 7 Pass. Sedan built in Syracuse N.Y. Franklins were built from 1902-1934 and aprox. 250,000 cars total were built in those 32 years. By 1930 the FRANKLIN was equipped with its best ever to date and until the end engine. It was a 100 Horse power, air-cooled overhead valve engine. This same engine was proven by installing in a Waco airplane and flown. This car has been owned and stored decades by a long time Franklin Club member. He decided to pursue other interests and decided to sell the Franklins he owned. This is a good honest car that a lot of work was done to by previous owner. Ill list here what I know about the car. The car starts and runs well. It is currently running off a 1 gal can until the fuel pump gets a new kit installed. The car drives and shifts well. The engine starts right up, and has good oil pressure. The steering is tight. The body is very straight and the wood looks good .The car was recently primed with a primer/sealer to protect bare spots that were on tin from owner sanding on car. The tires were all new, no miles on them but some checking. The interior was completely redone .There is some mouse damage ,but not bad.(the tops of the jump seats)The car has dual side mounts spare tires, all new safety glass installed, trunk rack on the rear(no trunk). Has ash trays front and rear. The carpets were new also when the interior was done. The hubcaps are all in good condition. The headlamps are the big 12 inch Twilights they have been re-chromed and the reflectors were silvered. The tire size is 650/19 inch. The serial # is 47-199230L23. (L23 means 7 Pass Sedan)The motor # is 147219. The car is fitted with a WALKER BODY, From Amesbury, Mass. The body # is 46!!!! This is a BIG CAR!! The wheelbase is 132 inches!!! It’s longer than an old freight train. This is a early 1930 Franklin with all correct and LOW numbers. The car has 4 wheel hydraulic brakes, and a 4 speed DETROIT TRANSMISSION. The car has the correct tail lamp assembly with a BACKUP light. All the door handles and window cranks are present and correct. There has been a lot of chrome plating already done, but more is needed. The gauges are complete. The shutters in the hood front are in great condition and the thermostat that controls them is present. I have the owner’s book also. The engine compartment is complete with the correct Stromberg U-3 carburetor, engine splash pans, spark plug wire conduit (chrome) valve oiler, fuel pump, and more. The beauty of this car is a lot of work has been done, nice usable interior, great body and fenders, and completeness. The car could be put in roadworthy condition quite easily and used /restored as you go. The car has lots of leg room, and you can easily sleep in the back if traveling....smile...
