Vehicle Detail

1979 Ford F-250 4WD, with or with out heavy duty snow plow. 64K actual miles confirmed by the DMV registration records. Please read all of this before bidding. If you are looking for a real dependable 70's vintage 4wd Ford truck, this is the one. Why? Simple! I just flew to Chicago to get this(with return air ticket in hand if it turned out to be a turd). Needless to say, I did not hesitate at this one and I drove it home on a trip in excess of 750 miles and it drove like it was new. I mean I did not have one iota of trouble out of it and I cannot say that of any other older truck I have ever bought. It does not wander all over the road, the steering and suspension are nice and tight. It fired right up and drove and shifted as I said like a new one. Also worthy of mentioning is that I also stopped on the other side of Chicago and bought a huge 1200 pound industrial air compressor that filled the long bed. So not only was it a maiden voyage for me but it had a substantial load. I bought this truck with plans to rob its 4WD components to put on my 18K mile mint truck with plans to put this one back as a 2WD and resell it. I was unaware of the frame differences that basically means I would have to swap bodies. This could not be done as mine is a regular cab. So long story short, for those of you who saw this on eBay not very log ago, this is why it is being resold. I can also say that after a week of sitting in my shop waiting on the title to come back in my name, the truck has not leaked a drop of anything anywhere. This truck has new brakes all the way around, new shocks on the rear, a receiver hitch and brake control unit. It also has new exhaust from the 'Y" pipe back and is not loud and nasty sounding but rather has a low quiet rumble. The engine is a 351 M/400 and holds great oil pressure and ran surprisingly cool. The C-6 auto tranny with married NP205 transfer case shifted smooth. The transfer case for those who will ask has a shift pattern of 4 Low--Nuetral--2 High--4 High. All of the 4WD parts work as they should with no issues. The rear end is a Dana 60 and the front is a Dana 44. I will check the exact ratios but it has to be a 3:50 or 3:73 as the engine is not wrapped out at 70 MPH.. The truck drove home and got 11-12 miles per gallon (typical). The only thing being picky I did notice is between 65-70 mph there is a brief vibration that turned out to be an out of balance tire. The interior in this truck is very clean and much nicer than most you will see of this year. The truck has dual fuel tanks and the switching valve works well.. It needs minor body work as seen in the pics, nothing major. The worst is that someone in its past had an issue with backing and dented the rear of the bed with the bumper on each side. If any of the body work scares you, I can fix it for you and do it right for a small fee. Simply put, this is a nice find. . The snow plow is a very heavy duty Western brand with a 7'6" blade and is hardly used. It is not beat up or rusted our and all the hydraulics work nice with no leaks. It has a joystick control and bright lights as well. If you are just wanting the plow, I will sell it separately so make an offer but keep it realistic as I do know its value. The current reserve is for both but if the buyer wants it different I will work the price to reflect. Pleas do not ask my reserve however, this is an auction and I will not tell you. Also when the plow system comes off, the front bumper will remount to its original location. Lastly, do NOT pay for this through PayPal unless you agree to their fees being added to your total. Cash on pick up is fine. Thank you for your time and good luck bidding. Now for the crap it seems you have to say anymore: If you are a newbie with a zero feedback rating or if you have negative feedback, contact me before you bid so we can discuss your intentions or I will cancel your bid. I do not have time for phony bidders, these ads cost money. I also do not tolerate non paying bidders. Do NOT bid if you cannot pay for it within the seven days allowed. I do report non paying bidders and I will leave nasty feedback for them as well. I apologize to the honest who had to read this part. On Apr-20-10 at 15:38:30 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTICE!!! AS OF 4/19/2010: I HAVE LOWERED THE RESERVE ON THIS TRUCK. ORIGINALLY I HAD A RESERVE SET AT 4000 AND PLANNED TO ACCEPT 500 LESS FOR IT WITHOUT THE PLOW. I NEED TO SELL IT SO I JUST LOWERED THE WHOLE PACKAGE TO 3500. IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE PLOW, I WILL WORK SOMETHING OUT BUT IT WONT BE MUCH AS I DO NOT WANT TO SIT ON THE PLOW TILL NEXT WINTER TO SELL IT.
