Vehicle Detail

You are viewing a very nice 1963 Dodge Polara 500 that is an original, dry western car from Colorado. It is a nearly rust-free original, factory big-block 383, push-button automatic car. This is a very solid, very nice car that was built mechanically over the last several years to be a fast, enjoyable driver that would be at home equally on the street, as it would be on the drag strip. The car was brought to Ohio in approximately 1996 where a complete mechanical rebuild ensued. The original 383 block was retained and completely rebuilt to Super Stock specs including extensive cylinder head work, a 1965 long-tailshaft 727 push-button automatic was completely rebuilt to street/strip specs (in order to not have to utilize the old-style, original 1963 727 with the trunion bearing set-up). The 8 3/4 rear was completely rebuilt with a new Sure Grip unit and 4.10 gears. Sub-frame connectors were utilized and all of the work was professionally done. It currently wears a set of polished 15-inch Torq-Thrust wheels that are beautiful, with B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's. The engine compartment was stripped and re-finished to show quality standards. An original-style Max Wedge hood scoop was mounted and is functional, the hood was also professionally modified to be functional and re-finished at that time. The paint on the car is the original Bright Red with matching Red and White interior. This is the factory color combination for this car. I believe a large portion of the paint on the car is original. The finish is nice, but externally not show quality. There are only a couple of very small spots of rust on driver's-side rear wheel lip (see picture), and a couple of other small spots, but overall this car is probably one of the most solid, rust-free and straightest examples of a 1962-1965 B-Body that I have seen. It is not full of Bondo or filler of any kind and the sheet metal is original. The floors and trunk are beautifully solid as are the doors, rockers, etc. The chrome trim, grille and stainless are in very good original shape and the car shows no signs of ever being in an accident of any kind. It has been garage-kept and meticulously maintained, and only driven a few times in nothing but perfect, warm weather since being completed. The car was taken down the strip to see just how fast it really was, and it ran a 13.24 at 102 miles per hour in the 1/4 mile. We have the time slips and video of the run. This car hooks hard and goes straight. It is very tight, and blindingly fast. Otherwise it has been street driven to a few cruise-ins and car shows. It runs impeccably and reliably. Very fast, but very streetable, and everything is new, from the carburetor to the deep-sump oil pan and three inch aluminized exhaust. The interior has had the upholstery re-done many years ago in non-original seating material, but it looks nice. The dash is beautiful and the carpet is very nice. The original white headliner is in gorgeous condition. Very little would be needed to return this car to pristine original condition. The current mileage on the car reads 20,847 but I assume it has turned over once. That being said, it may be original from the looks of the car in many aspects, but it will be sold mileage exempt due to the age of the vehicle. This is an opportunity for someone to own a very rare, very solid and very nice example of a nearly rust-free original '63 Dodge Polara 500, in a very rare and desirable color combination, that has had thousands of dollars spent on a complete mechanical overhaul using nothing but top-notch parts. Everything was done professionally and it shows. The owner of the car has retired and has decided to sell his toys. If you have been waiting for "the right one" at the right price...here it is. I doubt you will find a more solid or well-built '62, '63, '64 or '65 B-Body Dodge 330/440/500 or Plymouth Savoy at no reserve that is in this condition, at no reserve. As with all of our auctions, this is a no reserve sale This 1963 Dodge Polara 500 will sell to the high bidder at the end of the auction, please complete all inspections BEFORE bidding...if you win the auction, you own the vehicle. Because of increasing expenses in every regard, we have been forced to raise our fees by $40, this is the first time in ten years that we have done this, so hopefully you will understand. There will be a $125 documentation fee and a $15 title fee added to each sale, these will be the ONLY additional fees you will be responsible for, unless you reside in the state of Ohio, in which case you will need to pay the proper amount of sales tax, based on the current rate for the county in which you reside. We do not charge any additional fees and there are no hidden charges. Most sellers are charging double this amount currently. I welcome any and all questions you might have prior to bidding on this '63 Dodge. I do reserve the right to end the auction early if the vehicle sells locally prior to the end of auction. I am a law-enforcement officer as well and as such, work long hours so you are free to call me as late in the evening as you like. I can be reached anytime at (614) 893-3857. I will take calls 24/7 up until the end of the auction. Winning bidder agrees to forward a 25% partial payment (unless a lesser amount is agreed upon PRIOR to the end of the auction) at end of auction via direct bank wire transfer or by overnighted cashier's check, money order or certified funds. Balance will be due within seven days of end of auction or at time of pick up or delivery, whichever comes first. I will help in any way possible to arrange transportation. I can store the vehicle for up to 90 days, until pick up can be arranged, as long as it's paid for in full. I may be able to deliver this vehicle personally, depending on your location at a reduced rate. I have been buying, selling and driving muscle cars, police package and specialty vehicles for over ten years now and take pride in offering only low mileage and unique vehicles that are not "run of the mill", beat-up cars and trucks. I specialize in the hard to obtain, older cars, trucks and vans. If there are any questions at all, again, please don't hesitate to call me at (614) 893-3857. I will answer all e-mails as quickly as possible. Thanks and good luck! Because of people who bid and do not contact me or pay, I am being forced to implicate a rule pertaining to low-feedback bidders. ANY BIDDER WHO BIDS, WITH A FEEDBACK OF 5 OR LESS, WILL HAVE THEIR BID RETRACTED IMMEDIATELY unless they contact me first, prior to bidding. I hope everyone understands, and I thank our hundreds of happy customers, but a few bad apples have spoiled the proverbial bunch. Thanks for understanding. Please remember, this is a used vehicle, and not new, but it is in very nice shape, has had tens of thousands of dollars invested in it and runs, drives and looks great. That being said, it does have flaws and minor, normal wear and tear as any 47 year-old vehicle will. Please, if you want to come and look at it, do so BEFORE bidding...or call me, as always, at 614-893-3857 or e-mail me and I will answer any questions you may have. Thanks! On Apr-17-10 at 08:14:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is additional information regarding all of the mechanical aspects of the car and the work that was performed: 1963 Polara 500 2 door Hardtop I have a clear Ohio title, Vin # 6432104102 I have the original fender tag: SO Number BDY TRM PNT 0912 0486 642 655 PP The original 1963 big block 383 cubic inch motor bored 0.030” over = 389 cubic inch (bore 4.28” X 3.38” stroke). The original 1963 closed chambered heads, hand ported with 1.6 ratio crane roller rockers, high performance hydraulic lifters, teflon valve seals, race springs, the large 2.14” intake, and 1.81” exhaust valves. It runs on pump gas just fine. The cam is an Erson, ground on a Hughes profile. The intake is 0.535” lift with a 276 degree duration. The exhaust is a 0.570” lift and a 288 degree duration. It has an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake dual-plane manifold (1500-6500 RPM range), a model 4150 Holley 830 cfm NASCAR race carburetor with mechanical secondary’s. I have the original intake & carb. MOPAR electronic ignition with mechanical high performance advance curve and a new alternator. With the 1965 transmission the 1963 trunion bearing setup on the drive shaft was done away with, but still was able to keep the original push button shifter (push button shifting was done away with in 1966). The transmission has Kevlar bands, Fairbanks 3,000 stall converter, a shift kit, and deep pan with a drain plug. The front and rear frames are connected together with custom welded frame connectors. MOPAR super stock springs with a MOPAR 8 ¾ “ rear end with Moser axles, 4:10 gear with an Auburn Sure Grip limited slip unit. The battery is located in the trunk with an exterior shut off switch. Front manual disc brakes with 11” drum rear brakes. Rear tires are P275/60R/15 B.F. Goodrich T/A Drag Radials on American Torque Thrust wheels. The front tires are B.F. On Apr-19-10 at 10:36:58 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer a few questions that have been received: This is an original 383 4-barrel HP car, factory rated at 320-horsepower. As with all Polara 500's, this car is equipped with factory bucket seats and center console. We have the original cast-iron 4-barrel intake, 4-barrel carburetor, original, correct 4-bolt style steel valve covers and a set of four 14" steel wheels and tires that were on the car when purchased. New gas tank was installed with all new fuel lines. Custom made drive shaft with a drive shaft loop, and large heavy duty U-joints. The heater is currently bypassed, the heater core is new, the heater control valve has a small leak which is easily fixable if you desire to have the heater operational (a new heater control valve is approximately $49.00). Power steering unit and steering gear box completely rebuilt by Steer & Gear in Columbus, Ohio. There are approximately 500 miles on the car since it's completion about eight years ago. This consists of nothing but nice-weather, summer driving.
