Vehicle Detail
Here is a detailed description of this cars status: One of the safety issues I mentioned was the fact that the right rear shakes when cornering at speeds above 45 mph. I think there is a bad bushing in the right rear control arm or possibly a bad wheel bearing. It rides pretty rough in the back, I would say that the rear shocks need replacing. This car has an independent rear suspension, so it has some components that I'm not entirely familiar with. On the exterior, obviously it needs some bodywork and a paint job. The hood has a dent in the front center where it was backed into by a truck. A good body guy shouldn't have too much trouble fixing this. New sheet metal panels will be required for the rear quarter panels as they have some pitting and a few rust holes and the rocker panels should also be replaced as well. The roof and doors seem to be in decent shape. All of the glass seems to be in good shape with no major cracks or dings with the exception of the drivers side window which has some scratches from sand or something in the door weather stripping. The interior is in pretty good shape with no major rips or tears in the headliner, door panels, or seats. The dash has some cracking, but is all in one piece. The floor carpet does need replacing, but the floor panels seem to be in good shape. The radio does work, and so does the 8 track player which I have some tapes for. The motor is an inline 2.0 liter 6 cylinder and starts nicely and runs like a champ. The previous owner said some motor work had been done, but I'm not sure what that entailed. All I know is that the motor looks pretty clean and only leaks some oil around the oil filter seal. The motor has twin 1-barrel carburators and they work nicely as long as the oil reservoir in the anti-stall pots are topped off. The transmission works and drives, but needs some work. Reverse works o.k. and all forward gears work fine while up-shifting, but down-shifting is tough; I think the syncros may be worn out. When I down-shift, I rev the engine to an appropriate RPM for the gear I'm shifting down to, then it shifts into gear just fine. Some of the turn signal and break light bulbs are burned out and some switches in the dash are hard to work but all in all I still love this car and will have a hard time letting it go! I think that this car has a lot of potential and it gets a lot of attention when cruising around town. This car needs a better home thanI can give it!!
