Vehicle Detail

Up for bids is my 1997 Dodge Ram 4x4, 2500 Series (8800 GVW). I have made a hard decision to sell my truck. I purchased the truck two years ago to pull a small travel trailer (this was to replace an older truck I had been using to pull the camper). I sold the travel trailer last year and I only put 500 miles on the truck so it’s not cost effective to keep anymore (unfortunately). This truck is in good condition for the age and mileage. I am very meticolous with my vehicles. I have done a lot of work to this truck since I took ownership of it. One of the things that first made this truck jump out at me is that the body, paint and frame are in very good condition for an older ¾ ton truck. Most of the ¾ ton trucks I looked at in this price range looked like ¾ ton trucks, the bodies were beat up and they were rusty. There is NO RUST on the body of this truck that I have been able to locate and the 13 yr old factory paint is in pretty nice shape. It’s not perfect, but it is nice. The headliner was sagging when I bought the truck so I had that re-done. I also installed the Westin Nerf bars and they are in excellent condition. I installed the factory chrome wheels and they have some minor flaws if you look at them up close, but they are not offensive at all. The factory headlight/turn signal assemblies were badly yellowed so I replaced those as well. As the truck is emission exempt due to the low annual miles I put on it, I never replaced the catalytic converter, it is gutted and I installed a Flowmaster Super 44 series muffler on the truck with a stainless steel 4” tip. The truck is fairly loud, (not obnoxious) but that is my preference. The factor trailer hitch is in nice shape, I just repainted it for looks. I installed the factory Dodge trailer tow mirrors and they work great if you have to tow a trailer. The engine was tuned up by the dealer right before I took delivery. I serviced the transmission, transfer case and both differentials and when I drained the fluids, they all looked good. I also drained and flushed the cooling system last year and installed a new thermostat. I removed the stock air intake and replaced it with an Edelbrock Proflow 1002 air hat. It made a noticeable improvement in throttle response. The throttle body is noisier and will whistle just slightly during part throttle application. It’s not very loud and I actually like how it sounds. I do have the stock air intake parts for the winning bidder if they wish to re-install it. I am a former Police Officer and a man of God so I am listing all of the issues the truck has as I know them. I also hold a current Class 7 Pennsylvania State Safety Mechanic’s license and I have been over this truck. The transmission was rebuilt by the prior owner approximately 60K miles ago and it shifts well and does not slip (I have paperwork on this in the glove box). The transmission fluid looked good when I drained it. Under heavy load (heavy throttle) the torque converter makes some noise. It’s not very loud, but I noticed it after I bought the truck. As I said, it does not affect the way the truck runs/shifts, but I wanted to mention it. The top of the radiator is pushed in slightly, but the radiator does not leak, so it’s not an issue. There is a small dent in the passenger side rocker panel that was caused by the prior owner. The power steering pump has a very slight leak. It’s not a steady drip or anything like that. For an older ¾ ton truck, the underside is very clean and in very good condition. The prior owned replaced the entire rear axle assembly with a Jasper unit. The truck has factory 4.10 gears and limited slip differentials, which really help wet weather traction and when in dirt. I never drove this truck in the snow and it is always garaged. The tires have approximately 5/32” of tread left. I have replaced the front brake rotors and installed new front brake pads; I replaced the right side hub bearing assembly and the upper and lower ball joints on the right side. I replaced the steering damper and the battery was replaced in May, 2009. I just has the truck inspected earlier this month (good until 4/2011) and the mechanic who was doing the inspection asked me if I did all of my own work and I told him I did. He said “this truck is in nice shape.” I only mention this to give you a third party’s opinion of the condition off the truck. You will note that I have a good feedback score. I am an honest seller and expect the same from buyers. Due to the nature of this item, I am kindly asking that only serious buyers bid on my truck. Please do not bid if you have any doubts as to whether you will purchase the truck if you are the high bidder. I require local in-person pick up of the truck and either a cashier’s check from a local bank, however cash on delivery is preferred. I will not ship this truck. If you have a negative feedback score, your bid will be cancelled and you will be blocked. The truck is being sold AS-IS with no warranties expressed or implied. I request a $300 deposit via Pay Pal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. When the balance of the sale price is received during pick-up, the title will then be transferred to the winning bidder at a notary local to York, PA (at the buyer’s cost as per standard procedure). If you have any questions, please ask and I will do my best to answer them for you. This truck is not perfect, but if you are looking for a nice ¾ ton truck in this age and price range, I do not believe you will find one that has a nicer body and factory paint. The 4x4 system works well. I have tried to be as detailed as possible so there are no surprises for the winning bidder when they pick up the truck. I am very confident that they will be very happy with the truck. Thanks for looking and good luck! On Apr-13-10 at 06:15:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Addendum - I have no idea how Ebay errored on the description of my truck. It is a 1997 Dodge Ram 4x4 2500 Series. I do not know why it shows "Dodge Ram 1500 2500." I'll apologize on Ebay's behalf because that is not how I listed it and they won't correct the error for me. Thanks.
