Vehicle Detail
DESCRIPTION- This is NOT your average F-550! This Ford is loaded! It is an XLT Lariat so it has all of the optional equipment that makes driving this super capable truck as comfortable as a ride in the family Lexus! It is a true Crew Cab so there is room for everyone. The bed is far more versatile than your run of the mill Western Hauler. You actually have storage space with this hauler. People give the 6.0 Power Strokes a bad rep but this low mileage diesel has had ALL of the problematic components repalced under warranty by Ford! Please read the DRIVETRAIN section below for specifics. You will not believe everything that the Ford dealership has done to this motor. This 6.0 Power Stroke is BULLET PROOF !!! If you've never driven a 6.0, you will be pleasantly surprised. These engines are far smoother running, far more responsive & far quieter than any 7.3! I bought this hauler to tow an enclosed stacker car trailer. Business plans have changed & I need to liquidate a few things. So here it is with NO RESERVE !!! This is truly an amazing, top of the line, vehicle that had a very healthy sticker price! New this truck & hauler bed cost nearly $70,000! It is still very much like new only this time you get to set the price! High bid wins! CAB & CHASSIS- As I said, this is not your average F-550. Most 550's were painted Work Truck White from the factory. Not this beautiful truck! It was born Brilliant Cardinal Red! Normally you would expect a vehicle of this type to be covered with dents, dings & scrapes by the time it's a few years old. Not this one! There is not one single dent, ding, scrape or other blemish anywhere! The fenders are perfect. The hood is perfect. All four doors are perfect. Every body panel is as straight as a string! Not one single door ding. This vehicle has never been in any type of accident & never had any paint work at all. All of the Brilliant Cardinal Red you see on this cab-chassis is original & very much like new! Granted, there are a handful of very superficial scrathes present but I believe they would disappear with a good detail. I did nothing more than hand wash & dry this Ford & just look how it shines! You can see the reflection of everything around the truck, from the trees, to the buildings, to the lines on the road. You can even see my reflection in a few of the shots. Just imagine how it would look with a professional clean-up. (anything you see in the pictures that looks like damage such as white lines, spots, waves etc... ARE NOT DAMAGE... they're simply reflections playing tricks on my camera) This truck is string straight! Since this is an XLT Lariat it has a chrome front bumper, dual tow hooks & chrome grille trim. This truck also has factory molded running boards or side steps. The truck has lived it's entire life right here in Central Georgia so there is no rust or corossion on anything.... anywhere. This 550's chassis has been unaltered. It has not been cut, stretched, bent etc... It is just as it came from Ford. SERVICE / HAULER BODY- When I bought this truck I had intensions of installing a traditional Western Hauler type bed since I was primarily going to be pulling a large Goose Neck stacker trailer with the truck. After using the truck with it's current body... I would have been crazy to replace it with any other kind of bed! This bed is awesome! It was built to be a Bed For All Uses & that is just what it is. The sides are slightly shorter than a typical utility body to allow for clearance when hauling a gooseneck trailer. It has a very strong hitch support structure just like you find on traditional hauler beds. Yet unlike a traditional hauler bed, this bed actually has storage. Typical Western Hauler type beds have a few very small storage areas & nothing you want to put in them will ever fit. You will not have that problem with this hauler body! This bed has 3 very large, lockable, weather tight storage compartments & adjustable shelves on each side of the truck. This body has a large, flat center bed floor with cabinet backs which act as bed sides & a tail gate. That makes this bed far more useful than a Western Hauler type bed. When you are not pulling a goose neck trailer you can actually put cargo in the back of this truck body. From the transmission out of your drag car, to the engine off your boat, to the lumber, pipe or bags of cement, you need to get the job done. You can actually use this truck's bed! This amazingly versatile hauler body was built by OMAHA custom beds. This is a steel bed & measures 9 ft long by 8 ft wide. The cabinet sides are 40 inchs tall by 20 inchs deep. There are a total of 6 large cabinets. The bed floor is made of diamond plate steel & measures 9 ft long by 4.5 ft wide. In the center of the bed floor is a very nice Flip-Flat Goose Neck Ball. This is not a hitch that was added to a service bed. This bed was purposely built to be a hauler & as such has all of the necessary framework underneath for the hitch. Unlike most service bodies, this bed has a heavy duty, hinged, latching tailgate. The entire inside of the bed (bed floor, cabinet backs, inside of tailgate etc..) has been professionally coated by Line-X spray in bedliners. They even coated the tops of the side cabinets to further protect the bed. This hauler body also has a heavy duty diamond plate rear step bumper & under bumper class V receiver hitch to allow towing of tag type trailers of all sizes! There is an electronic trailer brake controller inside the cab. There is a 7-way trailer plug mounted inside the bed & another mounter under the rear bumper. I see guys with regular dually beds on their F-550's & guys with with Western Hauler beds on their F-550's. I like both of those options. They both look classy. However, I feel that this bed is a better option. Normally I wouldn't think a service bed could look good but keep in mind, this is not one of those huge 13 foot long service beds you are used to seeing on a 550. This is just a 9 ft bed. It's the same length as a Western Hauler or a daully bed with the F-550 filler plate. The sides on this bed are also not as tall as you normally find on a service bed. Plus this bed has factory flared fenderwells to match the F-550's front fender openings, rather than generic flat sides found on most aftermarket beds. On top of all that, this bed was professionally installed & painted to match by Pro Formance Truck Bodies in Blairsville GA. They are very well respected in the industry so you can be sure that this hauler conversion was done right. The hauler body is in exceptionally good condition & shows very little use. All of the doors & hardware work perfectly. All of the locks are keyed the same & I have four keys which are included! Unlike the cab of this 550 which is perfect in every way... the hauler body does have a couple of very minor dings, chips & scratches. Nothing terribly noticable & nothing that takes away from this beautiful truck's looks at all. I never thought I would say a service truck looks good but this is a SUPER SHARP, very classy Ford! INTERIOR & OPTIONS- Again... not your average 550! This truck is loaded! I would imagine that this Ford has every single option you could get in 03. Most F-550's are built with the very basic XL trim package. Some have the nicer XLT trim. But very few were finished out like this beautiful 550. This truck has the Lariat Package on top of the XLT trim! The gray leather seats are in great condition, showing very little wear from normal use. Nothing like what you would expect to find in a work vehicle. The front seat is a 3-way bench. Both the driver & passenger seat adjust like traditional bucket seats & are fully independant of each other. The center section can be used for a 3rd front passenger, or the center back rest folds down & becomes a center console complete with storage & cup holders. Both the driver's & passenger's seat are power & heated! The rear seat is a full leather bench, also with fold down center console. The rear seat folds forward to reveal a large storage tray behind the seat. This truck is equipped with factory Deluxe door panels which have wood grain inserts. All four are in perfect condition. The headliner is perfect. This Lariat also has the overhead console with trip computer. (the lid for the garage door opener is missing from the console, a replacement can be obtained through Ford) There are no cracks in the dash or any of the various trim moldings inside this vehicle. The carpet is in very presentable condition but does show some minor matting in areas. This may come out with a thorough cleaning but again... I simply gave this already very clean interior a quick once over. There are no cracks or stars in the windshield. All four door glasses are professionally tinted. The back glass is a factory tinted slider. Like I have said.. THIS TRUCK IS LOADED WITH OPTIONS! Power heated seats. Power windows. Power locks. Tilt steering. Leather wrapped steering wheel. Cruise control. Intermittant windshield wipers. Full instrumentation. Factory indash 6-Disc CD changer with premium sound speakers. This truck even has factory rear door child safety locks. You also get factory power, heated, telescopic towing mirrors with built in turn indicator lights. On top of all of the options listed above, you get all the normal optional equipment which makes driving comfortable. You get power steering. Power disc brakes. Ice cold air conditioning & toasty warm heat. Ford has taken every option you could ask for from a luxury car & put them all into this Super Duty F-550. Right down to the factory keyless entry alarm with key fob controls. DRIVETRAIN- People tend to shy away from the 6.0 Power Strokes because they were a change from the 7.3 we have all grown to trust. But... the 6.0 is a fantastic diesel engine! Ask anyone in the industry & they will tell you the same. Some Chevy guys like the Duramax better & some Dodge guys like the Cummins better. But for the most part, everyone agrees that the 6.0 Stroke is the diesel engine to have these days. They are far more powerful in stock form than the old 7.3's. They meet Federal Emissions Standards, unlike the 7.3's. Plus they get far better fuel economy than the 7.3's. I'm not even going to compare the 6.0 to the new 6.4 Ford Diesel. There's really nothing to say..... the 6.4 is junk. Part of the reason for the 6.0's bad reputation was the fact that they had some pretty serious problems early on. These engines were prone to turbo failure. They had problems with the ICP (Injection Control Pressure) sensors leaking. They had problems with the IDM's (Injector Control Module) going bad. These are all things that are very expensive to replace if you have to pay for the repairs out of your own pocket. Fortunately you will not have to spend your money replacing any of those parts on this truck since ALL of those componants & many more have already been replaced under warranty, by Ford, with all new UPGRADED factory Ford parts! The previous owner must have had a family member who worked at Courtesy Ford in Conyers GA because all of the repairs were done there. Before I bought this amazing truck I had my local Ford dealer look it over & run a repair history on their Ford Master Computer. They couldn't find one single thing wrong with this truck but they did find all of the service records. Most of the work was done in 2007 just when this truck's 5 year Powertrain warranty was getting ready to expire. The service manager who ran the history for me said that Courtesy Ford has replaced every single thing that was prone to go bad on a 6.0 diesel. His thoughts were that all of these repairs were made NOT due to problems with the truck but rather to head off any potential problems before they happened. He said that the previous owner got a "BIG TIME BUDDY DEAL". He said that they basically took this truck into the shop & replaced everything that was known to cause a problem with a 6.0 diesel & charged it to Ford under warranty. They replaced the ICP sensor. They replaced the IDM. They replaced the Glow Plug Relay. They even replaced the Entire Turbo, the High Pressure Oil Pump which fires the injectors, several Injectors & the Entire Injector Pump! He told me that the service ticket from these 2007 repairs would have totalled over $10,000.00! He also advised me that anyone can verify these repairs by calling their local Ford dealership & giving them the VIN for this truck (listed above) & asking them to run a Master Warranty Search. I know this F-550 is a big purchase. Since this was all done by Ford, you don't have to take my word about the repairs. It's all on record at Ford. If you have any doubt.... please call your local dealership & run the check. It only takes a second & is free. Keep in mind that all of this work was done at the end of 2007. At that time there was right at 70,000 miles on this truck. There are just under 90,000 miles now. This truck has had $10,000 worth of factory Upgrades less than 20,000 miles ago! I also had Ford scan the trucks computer to make sure it had not been re-programed or (chipped). Thankfully it had not! The 6.0 is a very high output diesel from the factory. They run extremely high compression in order to get so much power from a relatively small displacement engine. For this reason the 6.0 does not respond well to aftermarket performance parts. Basically they are already souped up & tuned straight from the factory. When you start adding performance parts you end up damaging the engine. THIS 6.0 IS BONE STOCK! There have been NO performance parts added & NO programmers! The truck is just as the Ford engineers designed it to be. It's had all of the factory upgraded parts installed & EVERYTHING was done right! This Power Stroke runs just like new. It fires up easily even on the coldest of mornings. There is no stumbling. No abnormal noises. No abnormal smoke. No fluid leaks. No problems of any kind. This low mileage diesel runs smooth & strong all day long. Everything has been replaced & upgraded by the dealer. This is a Bullet Proof 6.0 Power Stroke! You should get many years of trouble free service out of this one. The automatic transmissions were totally redesigned for use behind the 6.0 Power Strokes. The transmission in this truck is a true 5 speed automatic & far superior to the automatics of previous years. This transmission also has the optional TOW/HAUL setting. This is a must have when towing any trailer. It works very similar to an exhaust brake. Basically the transmission does not free wheel or coast when in tow/haul mode. Instead it electronically selects the proper gear & stays engaged in order to use the engine's own back pressure to slow the vehicle. It works great! This feature makes hauling any load much more controllable & thus much safer. These transmissions are a vast improvement over previous years. You simply never have trouble out of one of these transmissions. This one shifts just as it should through all gears including neutral & reverse. There are no slips, no leaks, no problems. The Super Duty anti-spin rear end is quiet & tight just as it should be. The steering is nice & tight. All of the front & rear suspension components are nice & tight. This truck drives straight & true. There are no signs of wear. There is no wandering. There are no vibrations. The 4 wheel, anti-lock braking system stops this big vehicle smooth & fast. The brakes do not pulsate or pull. This truck runs & drives just as good as it looks.... very much like new! Driving this F-550 is nothing like the you would expect driving a truck as large & capable as this Ford would be. It is very smooth & extremely quiet! More like driving a luxury car than a work truck. I am a factory trained Ford technician myself. I worked at both the #1 & #2 volume Ford dealerships in America before going into the classic car restoration business. I have owned several 6.0 powered trucks & have gotten excellent service out of all of them. I recently sold my 2004 6.0 powered F-250 to a very close friend. At the time I sold it to him it had nearly 250,000 miles showing & was still very much like new inside & out. It never gave me any trouble at all & is giving him trouble free service everyday as well. This 6.0 powered F-550 has less than 90,000 miles showing & is also still very much like new. I can find nothing wrong with the truck at all & neither can my local Ford dealership! TIRES & WHEELS- This great looking truck is rolling on factory Alcoa style 19.5 polished aluminum wheels with chrome lugs & caps. This is a very expensive & hard to find option on a 550. Both front & all four rear wheels are in very nice condition! Both front tires have 80-90% tread life remaining. They are wearing evenly but I personally do not like the tread pattern. They are slightly choppy & I would replace them with a straight tread 100,000 mile DOT tire when it's time to replace the rears. All four rear tires are straight tread DOT's & appear to be the originals. These are 100,000 mile tires. There is nearly 90,000 on the truck so they should be replaced within the next 20,000 miles or so. They are also wearing evenly. All six tires on this truck have many miles of useable life remaining. TITLE- I have a clean, clear, fully transferable Georgia title for this Ford. I also have a tag receipt showing that all Ad Valorem taxes have been paid through Dec. 2010. The standard tag renewal fee for this tuck here in GA is only $25.00! I did not purchase this truck through my business so this is a private party sale. No sales tax or other fees will be charged. The winning eBay bid price is all that will be due! NO extra hidden fees that some sellers on here charge. BIDDING- Please only bid what you are prepared to pay for this very rare F-550 hauler. Anyone wishing to inspect the truck or have the truck inspected is welcome to do so, but inspections must be completed prior to bidding & prior to auction's end. If you have little or no feedback please do not bid without first sending me your contact info through the ASK SELLER A QUESTION link in this listing so that we can speak on the phone prior to you placing your bid. I have encountered a couple of crooks/ scammers here on eBay who have cost me both time & money. This will no longer be tolerated so if you are not a SERIOUS buyer, PLEASE MOVE ON. All members with a genuine interest in this Ford are more than welcome to ask questions. All will be answered promptly. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that all of the REAL buyers have been very happy after dealing with me. Many of the comments are from people who have been very happy with classic cars, street rods, motorcycles & diesel trucks they have bought from me. I have sold to satisfied buyers all over the world! I know you will love this car. Please be aware that I an unable to do any kind of financing or payment plans on this vehicle. Please have your funds in order prior to bidding. SHIPPING- Shipping costs & arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. However, I have assisted buyers & their shippers in the pickup of many vehicles over the years. I can recommend several shippers who have performed well for buyers in the past but you will have to make your own arrangements with them. I will work with you & your shipper so that they can get this truck to you as fast & cost effectively as possible. However, no matter where you live, if you choose to ship, or how you choose to pay, the legal point of sell will be here in GEORGIA as that is where I live & where the vehicle is located. As always, you are more than welcome to pick this Ford up in person. I will be happy to pick you up at the Atlanta Airport or local Amtrac station, free of charge, if you would like to drive this F-550 home. * This is a TRUE auction! * NO RESERVE! * Low starting bid! * You set the price! * Bid what you feel the truck is worth to you! * If you are the high bidder at the end... YOU WIN! This is a truck that is capable of handling the toughest of jobs with ease & in complete comfort. F-350's are great but aren't designed to do the jobs many people try to use them for. Their suspension & braking systems are not strong enough to safely maintain control over very heavy loads. They just will not hold up under heavy work loads. If you have a big job to do... this F-550 Hauler can do it & do it SAFELY, in total comfort, in total style! Everything on this truck is more than heavy duty, it's Super Duty! This truck was built to last! Whether you need to pull a race car trailer to the track, or tow a 2 car / 3 car / 4 car or even a 5 car hauler across the country... this truck can do it! If you decide to tow your cabin cruiser (or any other boat) to the Gulf for some fun in the sun... this truck will take you, the boat & the Family. NO PROBLEM! Maybe you need to pull a small dozer, or a big Ditch Witch, or Bobcat... this truck is up for the task & can do it better than a flat bed or Western Hauler! Because, with this bed you have plenty of dry & secure storage for all of your tools & parts! The bed also makes this truck well suited for all types of general service work. This would be a great plumbers truck. Or contractor's truck. Add a Lincoln or miller welder & this would be the perfect pipeline truck or heavy equipment repair truck! There's plenty of room for an auxillary diesel tank, pump & hose reel so you can keep all of your off road equipment fueled up & making money! This Ford has obviously been well cared for. It has very low mileage. It has all the options you could ever want. Plus it's had every imaginable improvement done by Ford! This is simply an amazing truck & I feel you will be very very happy with it! I have seen a handful of comparable 550's listed for sale in various classifieds. All of them have price tags of somewhere between 25 & 35 grand! Since this is a NO RESERVE auction, I feel someone is going to get this truck for thousands less than the other guys are asking! I hope you win it! JD This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. By placing a bid you agree to all terms laid out in this contract. On Apr-15-10 at 22:10:17 PDT, seller added the following information: This F-550 is as close to PERFECT as you can get without buying a brand new truck! No matter what you need it for... I know this will be a great vehicle for you. Maybe you will choose to leave the hauler / utitity body, or maybe you will install a rollback bed, or wheel lift wrecker unit, or flat bed, or enclosed box, or a dump body etc... However you choose to use it... this Ford is going to be a great value! The price has remained EXTREMELY LOW! Everyone is waiting until the last minute to bid... but there can only be ONE winner. Remember, this is a no reserve auction & high bidder at the end WILL WIN! I have had several questions about a BUY IT NOW price. I will not add a buy it now. I do not feel it's fair to sell this vehicle early since there are so many interested members. We are half way through the auction & as of right now there are 110 members watching this Ford. Normally when I run something with NO RESERVE, everyone waits until the last minute to bid. It seems like everyone hopes to win it on a last second $100 bid. I understand people wanting to get things for the best price possible. However, I have noticed that most of my no reserve auctions are not won by a last second bidder but rather are won by a member who placed their max bid hours or even days before the auction's end. It seems they bid like me. They enter the highest amount they are willing to pay & then let eBay's computers bid on their behalf up to that amount. Since eBay's computers can bid for you far faster than the other members can type... most of the time a member who entered their max bid early is able to hold off all the last second bidders & wins! This is because the last second guys only have time to hit it once or twice before the auction ends. Now I am not trying to tell anyone how to bid... I am simply telling you what I have noticed. I always get emails from people after one of my auction's ends saying things like (Sunday dinner ran over & I missed the end, please let me know if the item is still for sale)... Or (My computer froze when I was placing my last bid & by the time I got it working, the auction was over. I am willing to pay more than the winning bidder if you sell it to me)... Or (the power went out & didn't come back on until after the auction ended. Is there any way you could sell me the item?) I feel bad for these people. If someone really wants something... I really want them to have it. But once it is over... it's over. I can't do anything. The winning bidder owns the item. I must honor the eBay contract. That is why I always put my maximum bid in early when I see something I want. Sometimes I get the item for far less than my max bid amount & that is great! But sometimes I get outbid. At least when I get outbid I don't have to worry about it. I decided what the highest price I would be willing to pay was & entered that amount. If someone wants it worse than me & outbids me... so be it. I lost the item fair & square & don't have to worry that I may have won if I'd just had time to get in another $100 bid. I got my max bid in early & if I lose... there's nothing to regret. If you enter your high bid right now & then right at the end someone comes in & hits it a few hundred dollars... eBay's computer is simply going to bid $100 over them for you & YOU WIN! Waiting til the last minute never seems to work out. There is just not enough time to get a well though out bid in. It just seems like the early bidder always wins. At any rate... I hope this information is useful to you. Thank you for your continued interest in this beautiful F-550. I hope you win! JD
