Vehicle Detail
1965 Chevrolet Corvair 500 Coupe, 95% Restored, 138,056 miles. VIN 101375W280662. 95 HP engine with twin 1 barrel carbs and Powerglide Automatic Transmission. I purchased this in 2003 from my uncle who had owned it since 1967 (it was his daily driver from then until 1985). He had started the restoration, rebuilding the engine and doing body work, and I took it from there. It has gone less than 200 miles since then. Here is a summary of work done so far (not a complete list): Engine Rebuilt, Body Seal and Under hood Insulation Rust Repair, Undercoating and New Paint (Original Artesian Turquoise Corvair Color, not the original color on the car though (was Cameo Beige)) New Fuel System (Gas Tank and Lines) New Brake System (Front Wheel Disc Retrofit, Rear Wheel Cylinders and Lines, Emergency Brake Cable) Rehabbed Interior (1965 Mustang Front Bucket Seats with Covers, New Carpet, Front Lap Seat Belts, Rearview Mirror, Package Area Lining, Custom Steering Wheel, Cassette Stereo and Speakers, Original Recovered Front Bench Seat Available, take it if you want it) New Window Fuzzies, Rocker and Wheel Well Trim, Tail Light Trim, Engine Lid Lock New Radial Tires New Heater Hoses New Steering Box New Battery New Shocks, Strut Rods, Pitman Arm, Center Link and Bushings New Finned Transmission Pan and Modulator Valve New Exhaust System New Tunnel Pan Cover It has been garage kept for a number of years now. No body rust. Was PA State Inspected until last October. Over $5000 invested. Almost all new parts purchased from Clarks. All receipts from 2003 on available. Only issue is with the transmission, it downshifts somewhat hard and leaks a little (mainly from sitting). It also lacks windshield washers and backup lights (these were options back then, but can be retrofitted). Some spare parts are included. Manuals, books and carb sync tool are available separately (not part of this listing). $3000 starting bid, no reserve. I do not require a deposit. Vehicle must be paid for in full and picked up within 14 days from auction end. Vehicle can be inspected anytime during the bidding period, contact me to make arrangements. Cash only, no exceptions. Transportation is the buyer’s responsibility. On Apr-09-10 at 12:02:24 PDT, seller added the following information:Wanted to add that after sitting awhile, I charged the battery and it started right up. I haven't taken it out on any significant runs, mostly on back roads around here. Also I should say why I'm selling it. I've lost interest as often happens, mainly as I have other hobbies that I can actually make money at instead of spending money on.On Apr-11-10 at 08:08:42 PDT, seller added the following information:Wanted to clarify that the car has no upper body rust. Rust underneath was larger coated. Floorpan rust was cut out and patched. This shouldn't be a problem if the car is taken to a dry climate or only driven during nice weather and stored inside. I figure no one is going to use it as a daily driver around here (could be wrong though). I went through the spare parts included, here is a list: old front bench seat, one rim, old front drums, pads and backing plates, original owners manual, paint and interior charts, exterior paint pen, two headlights, carpet bits, two fuzzies, drum brake parts, old turn signal switch, set of Clarks catalogs. The carb sync tool is an Edelbrock Uni-Syn, available for $25 extra to winning bidder ($36 new from Clarks). Books and manuals available for $25 extra to winning bidder: 1965 Dealer Brochure, Clymers Corvair Owners Handbook of M&R, Autobooks Corvair Owners Workshop Manual, 65 Corvair Chassis Shop Manual, 65-69 Body Service Manual, and 65 Assembly Manual.
