Vehicle Detail
Located in Southern Delaware - This vehicle was used at the beach in lieu of a boat for day trips of fishing on the beach for the last 10 years. The kids have grown older and its time to get rid of the toys. This vehicle is not currently tagged. It still starts up and drives and I don't have a problem with continuing to do so. I would have someone follow you home, if you are thinking about driving it home on the highway. The engine, transmission and transfer case have all been rebuilt. The original engine had 25k on it. The transmission seems to get stuck in second gear when running hot. Turning it off and turning it back on, resets it. Solenoid? CTIS has developed a slow leak this winter. It has all the typical under body protection however a couple of cages have been removed. One spare tire. Bike rack. Surf Fishing rack and receiving hitch. No punches pulled. There is plenty of rust, ok... lots of rust. The salt air has done its job to speed up the dielectric corrosion typical of a vehicle built with dissimilar metals. I could go on and on about various items. Just assume that this vehicle needs to be put on an episode Overhaul. If you ask about a particular item on this truck just assume that it needs work too. On the other hand, t his vehicle is perfect for those familiar with East coast surf fishing and would like to continue to use it for such. I have bought plenty of bait from all those stuck trucks. On Apr-14-10 at 15:01:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 4-13-10 TO MY FELLOW HUMMER ENTHUSIAST FRIEND IN GERMANY.. THANK YOU ! You Got me to thinking more about this listing. I know how hard it is to buy from photos when it a used item. I know how disappointing an item can be if you recieve something that is either different or has a flaw that wasn't pointed out. It makes it even more difficult when one person values something differently than another. One person might like the color, the other likes the body style, while performance might be important to some, low maintenance might be more important than how it performs to others. Some people think Hummers should be like shiny and new and you should spend all your time waxing and washing and maintaining it when you are not driving it around the block. Others (like myself) buy a Hummer for what it can do. My idea of detailing is the interior is by opening the drain plug n the floor (uncovering it under 2 inches of beach sand) and hosing it down. Face it, this truck is an ugly, heavy, box with uncomfortable seating, however it has given me quality family time and great memories (that's what is important to me ) with my kids and friends spending countless hours, enjoying an activity in areas that are only accessible by 4 wheel drive. The H1 - as far as I know - is the only true 4 wheel drive vehicle made. The reason for the update, a very sharp eyed fellow from Germany who is seriously interested in this truck, asked for pictures to be sent to his email. I happily sent them. (eBays pic system destroys resolution) He was able to pick an area on the frame and ask for additional info/pictures. Yesterday a spent a couple of hours going over the exterior of the truck. Ok I went under! I slithered on my back examining the underbody with a claw hammer by tapping,, chipping, scraping and sometimes banging just to see what I could knock loose. For those of you who have read this far and own Hummers, check your frame and see if you can run a hose into the frame (Through one of the numerous unused mounting holes) and see if the water comes out anywhere - you might consider a drain hole. If you have been mudding you know hole difficult it is to get the mud out of the suspension arms. Since none of you have visually inspected this truck. I decided to take pictures of the worst areas. The last thing I want is any kind of hassle. This is killing me to sell this truck (it has both sentimental and personal value that can't be replaced) and if you aren't happy once you have bought it, I don't want you to bid on it. - Now with that said. Without further ado. These pictures are of the worst areas I could find.
