I have for sale a rare 1987AMC/ Renault GTA. It has the 2.0 4cyl. 5 speed manual. It is a factory A/C car. It even has the econo crank windows. I am listing it at $1.00 and NO RESERVE This would be considered a project car. I bought it from a person at work. With over 500 cars in the lot at any given time, I saw this car in the employee parking lot . A real GTA! One day he was parking it when I was going in and I ran to see and meet him and got the story on the car. I mentioned to him I was into AMC's and knew Renaults very well. We hit it off. When he bought a new car he came right to me as he knew I had to have it. Always ran great for him and fun to drive he said. I bought it and planned a cosmetic restoration and after several years and more projects then I can count, I haven't done anything with it. Last fall I ran it and it seemed it had a vaccuum leak or something. It idled up and down. May be bad gas from sitting. I do not know. I haven't had it to the shop and can't find anything myself so I am selling it as non running. The timing belt has been done so it has no timing issues. It will need a new battery. Tires and interior are great. The body has the normal dings. The top has some dings too. It is a non sunroof car. Right side fender has a dent although will come with an extra right side fender. The grille has a crack and is missing a right side park/signal lense. Paint on the front bumper cover is flaking off. The deck lid was replaced at one time as to add a more agressive rear wing. It has a spot of rust on the fuel door and on the tail light panel that is actually covered by the license plate. It has had a second repaint with a custom color that changes in the light. I did have the original window sticker. This would make a super fun car that handles like a Vette and gets 40+ mpg while doing so. This car for collectability is way under the radar so get one while you can. It was made in very limited numbers.Infact only a half a year of production! I have discovered usedcarpart.com and there are many Renault Alliance and GTA parts listed. I priced a nice GTA only grille for $35.00 from one of the many sources. Renault/AMC was in great shape when Chrysler came around and romanced the buyout. It has been said had that never happened AMC may have survived on its own as it had a new fantastic product lineup. One thing is for sure this is the very last performance/sports car that was available from AMC. Recently Hemmings did an article on econo (fuel mileage) performance collector cars. The Dodge Omni GLH, Chevrolet Vega Cosworth to name a few. It is only a matter of time someone there will discover AMC made other interesting cars too besides an AMX. You are welcome to inspect the car in person. It is a non running car with issues so use caution when bidding. It is being sold as is and as seen. This Sunday morning I put in a battery and it starts right up. I drove it around the block. So it runs. I would as I stated earlier that I would prefer you to tow or haul it. I just do not want to be responsible for any negligence on the buyer who makes a bad descision and causes an accident or anything else bad that could happen. Now the current price. Way under the money here. The wheels are worth at least $500. They are a Momo dual bolt pattern and fit almost any 4 lug. The parts alone on the car to the drive line and specific GTA parts including the interior. The car would scrap for $400. by itself! Come on! Don't kill me here. I have $3000. in the car!
