Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction is a beautiful 1969 Mercury Cougar that has been updated with a eliminator package but IS A RECREATION. I have owned this car for over 15 years and you may have seen it at the Pure stock muscle car drag races or in such magazines as Hemmings muscle machines, muscle car review or muscle car enthusiast. The car has no rust, save for some surface and perhaps scale underneath but certainly no holes or issues. It came from the factory with a four barrel 351 windsor motor, power disc brakes, power steering, deluxe interior, styled steel wheels and heavy duty suspension and when originally invoiced was a home office reserve car. The paint is smooth and glassy, the brightwork is all beautiful, the interior is gorgeous and it is in perfect working order. The engine is a dated 69 block and was completely remanufactured. It was decked, line bored, cylinder bored .030 over with KB pistons, Scat crankshaft, Scat I beam connecting rods and the whole rotating assembly was professionally balanced. ARP fasteners fasteners were used and it has a Edelbrock performer cam and springs. The Cylinder heads are dated 1970 and were also completely refinished with new valves seats guides and screw in studs and guideplates with poly locks. It has the correct numbered intake and exhaust manifolds and is topped with the correct style autolite 4300 carburetor. The water pump, fuel pump, alternator, power steering pump and distributor have all been replaced as well as the all of the suspension, gear box, radiator, heater core, starter and just about anything else you can think of. The tires are wide oval bias ply that were new a year ago. The engine has about a 10.7 to one compression ratio and requires premium gas. The Transmission is a professional reman that was manufactured by accurate transmission and has a custom built torque converter. The rear end is stock and currently has the factory open 3.00 gear in it. The exhaust is dual 2 1/4 inch with H pipe and flowmaster supper 44 mufflers and it is equipped with KYB shocks and some urethane components. Many years ago I did a complete color change on the car and added all the appropriate eliminator components. This even to a expert looks exactly like a factory eliminator. All of the interior is beautiful including the dash and door panels. The rimblow wheel works as it should but has some small chips and cracks. As mentioned previously the car looks beautiful, is very mechanically sound and I wouldn't hesitate to drive this across the country. I have modified the drivers seat track and at 6'2" I still fit comfortably. I have drove this many times at the pure stock muscle car drags and the fastest ET was about 14.4 seconds. There are only a couple negative things that I could even mention. There are some paint chip repairs in the jambs of the car. The undercarriage is a little dirty from being driven. The headlights work very well but do loose vacuum over time when parked. There are two ghosted spots in the front bumper where water drips. The instrumentation works as it should including the temp, oil, tach, speedo and fuel gauges but the amp meter is not hooked up and the clock is non functional at this time. There are a couple very minor defects in the paint that are only noticeable on a very close inspection. There is some wind noise at highway speed especially with the vents open and the bias ply tires don't ride as nice as radials. In a perfect world I would not sell this however I have run out of room and have other projects that I could use the money for. I have the Marti report for the car and the original build sheet also that was found in the car. I am very interested in finding this a good home and will answer any questions that you might have but please don't wait until the last minute. You may email be through ebay or text me at 989-463-6165. Please don't call without texting first as I might not be able to answer immediately. I would encourage anybody to arrange a inspection/drive (weather permitting) of the vehicle as it looks better in person than in the photos. I would prefer to exchange cash so please make your inquiries about other forms of payment before arriving to pick up, also I am very wary of scammers and international buyers and will cancel any bid I don't like. I have set the reserve very very low at a mere $16,999 but I believe that it is worth much more.
