Vehicle Detail
1985 Honda VF1000R (Not the 1000F Interceptor, ebay's problem) True garage-find 17K mile bike. V4, gear-driven cams, desirable red seat version.. amazing machine! This is an investment piece, this is an untouched project. I just saw one of these models in showroom-like condition with 12K miles for sale for $10,000. I believe you could get this bike up to that spec with $3-4K additional investment. Engine ran when it was stored. The father of a friend of mine had taken the bike in trade years ago, it has been in storage indoors and I’m listing the project now. I changed the oil with fresh motorcycle oil, old oil wasn’t that dirty and I saw no particles or metal in it. I free'd up the carburetor slides, the throttle operates freely from grip to butterflies in carbs. Engine cranks over, but there was no spark when I tested on an extra spark plug (after I spliced one ignition coil wire that was broken), I didn't pull the 4 spark plugs. That’s as far as I went, it will be a relatively easy electrical fix to get spark/ignition fixed and this bike will run. Brakes work front and rear with pressure and no leaks. Hydraulic clutch has no pressure I tried bleeding, needs service. Needs new tires. Missing factory airbox, missing gas cap. No visible rust flakes in tank, but needs cleaned may need re-coated, would need carbs cleaned, needs fork seals (all the potential typical stuff to revive an old bike). Missing one blinker lens, and blinkers hanging/need service. Needs new battery. With 12v power supply, the lights/horn/starter/etc. all seem to function normally. Fairings/bodywork have all been stored off the bike. The bike has been down in a relatively low speed slide on the right side with broken/worn down fiberglass fairings, also included is an additional red lower fairing from a different bike (a lot less damaged than the original color-matching piece). Missing fairing bodywork that trims the headlight and the taillight. If you located a new upper front fairing for the bike to use and go along with that extra red fairing we already have, the fiberglass repair left would be very minimal. Gas tank only has a minor dent on the right side down near the frame tube, and the small dent on the left side visible in pic. NO TITLE, sold with bill-of-sale (bike isn't salvage or stolen, you can apply for and get title). This could be restored to be a TOP LEVEL SURVIVOR with no major overhaul/rebuild. Please view pics carefully to see any damage (pretty much fiberglass damage and scrapes on steel/aluminum levers) Scraped R. muffler/footpeg and damaged fiberglass bodywork on right side. Left side is kind of fishy because no muffler or footpeg scrapes,. but part of the clutch reservoir body/mount has evidence of scraping on the ground (maybe that part had come from another bike?) Please ask with any more questions, after non-paying bidder.. Buy-It-Now for $1,000 I'll have it here until someone takes it.Buyer responsible for pickup or shipping arrangements, bike is in Salt Lake City Utah. I can help crate the motorcycle (for a fee) for shipment if needed (steel/pallet, with front tire removed). Thanks for looking!
