Vehicle Detail
This 1973 Volvo 1800ES is a 61k-mile example with its original 2.0L engine, automatic transmission, A/C and $26k in receipts for substantial work completed over past 4 years. It is stored in an air conditioned/heated garage. Briarcliff Classic and Imported Cars addressed a variety of items on the car to bring it to its current condition, including: new interior (carpet and seats) paintwork as needed along with full, ($800) paint correction for flawless mirror like finish new camshaft new fuel injectors. new liftersnew timing gearsnew water pumpnew hosesnew beltsnew upgraded fan clutchnew volvo classic look radio new camshaft covernew overflow bottlenew wheels and tires with volvo centercaps new exhaust systemrebuilt driveshaft new fuel pumpthe three-speed Borg-Warner 35 transmission was fully servicednew ball jointsnew upper/lower control arm bushings new tie rod ends. new brake pads and fully serviced the 4-wheel disc brakes .The car is well sorted and ready for a cross-country trip. A good portion of the Volvo 113-2 orange paint is believed to be original, and there is no evidence of prior accident damage on the car. The paint looks amazing.Volvo’s two-door sport wagon, the 1800ES, was the final variation of its 1800 model line. Launched in 1972 and built for just two model years, the 1800ES, designed by Jan Wilsgaard, blends the stunning good looks of Pelle Petterson’s coupe with the do-it-all sensibility of a compact wagon. Less than 8,100 examples were built in 1972 and early 1973, meaning that clean examples can be somewhat hard to find. Car is located in Coopersburg, PA and if you want to arrange shipment, I'd require cleared funds in advance and I'd prep the car for shipping. If you have someone local that would like to inspect it for you, no problem. Reserve is way under what other 1800es are going for, and is well under just what was spent on restoration list above. This is also listed for sale locally, so if it sells there, I will cancel the auction. I can't add anymore pictures to the listing, but if you'd like to see them, just message me. Also, I took the car out for a drive today (to our ice cream shop) and it started right up and ran perfectly. The idle was a little high, but I think the throttle cable was just sticking a little. As soon as I tapped it, it went down. If you have any other picture requests, let me know. thanks. tony On Jul-29-18 at 13:52:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that there is a spare, hard to find, rear hatch window included along with the original front bumper. The original front bumper needs a chrome job, which is why I replaced it with the polished stainless steel. But if you want to go back to the chrome, it is included. On Aug-03-18 at 09:22:56 PDT, seller added the following information: A number of buyers have messaged me about the reserve. I set the reserve pretty low, and the auction is currently about $1000 away from the reserve.
