Up for a quick sale and priced accordingly is my 2008 (October) Smart Fortwo Passion. It has 44.840 miles only and no accidents. The car is in excellent condition mechanically. It has a new AC Delco battery, Bilstein shock absorbers and new purge valve. Cosmetically very clean in the inside but fair at the outside. It needs a new service flap (hood cover) and has scratches (color damage only) on the door and rear bumper. Ideal car for a DIY person that can keep the maintenance cost at a very low level. Running cost is also very low with 35-40 mpg. Service cost can be quite high if you decide to service it at Mercedes Benz. PRICE IS FIRM and messages with offers won't be replied as this is most likely the cheapest Smart ForTwo with similar mileage, age and condition in the US. Stating the obvious, if I wanted to get the price offered by a car dealer or re-seller I wouldn't list it here. Priced at $3,250 it is win-win deal for the buyer and myself. Questions always welcome and thanks for looking. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here are the answers to some questions I was asked What is the problem with the hood cover?The hood cover is at the front and like many parts of the Smart is very light and made of plastic. At some point it was not securely attached and the wind blew it off in a storm, dragging it along the pavement and braking one of the corners where it attaches to the car. There is no damage to anything underneath the hood. If budget is important at this time, a piece of strong tape is more than enough to keep the hood cover securely attached, however because of the damaged corner it needs to be replaced at some point.What is the condition of the engine?The engine is at the rear. Because of its low mileage it is in very good shape. It has a new battery (ACDelco 47AGM, a quite specialized and expensive battery purchased brand new last summer) and at the same time I replaced the purge valve with a new one (it was noisy as with many ForTwo). The Bilstein shocks were replaced no more than 5-6k miles back. Despite the very few miles the car did in my possession, I always replaced the motor oil with fully synthetic Mobil 1 (I have 5 qt left for the next oil change, with an oil filter and new windshield wipers). Two years back engine coolant and brake fluid were replaced.Is the Smart ForTwo expensive/cheap to maintain?It depends on how you plan to have it serviced. If you can do basic maintenance yourself or have access to an independent mechanic who would be happy to service this "made in Europe little thing" maintenance can be very cheap. On the contrary, if you are not able to do basic maintenance yourself or with out of network mechanics, the Smart can be an expensive car to service because the distributor of the brand for the US is Mercedes-Benz. Why did you describe the outside condition as fair? If you want a pristine car looks-wise, this is not the car for you. It has some scratches on the rear bumper and other places, in line with its age. Paintwork only would be needed, nothing important or due to an accident, but it does not look new. That's why I used the word fair in the description. On the other hand, the inside of the car is in very good shape, again for the age. Is it good on the snow? Being a rear engine / rear wheel drive vehicle it needs attention when driven on snow. Like with every car, it is recommended to drive it on snow either with winter tires or snow chains.
