Vehicle Detail
this is a great rare collectible, rarely, if ever, will you find another 1928 whippet come up for sale. this one had a restoration done at one time and appears to have been dry garaged since. the car looks great, the body and interior are in excellent condition with no signs of rust or rot anywhere. the interior looks completely new with original type materials. the roof appears new with original type design, the engine appears clean and it fires up , runs and idles fine, only mechanical issue it the clutch will not engage, it will go into gear when it is not running but will grinding if you try and put it in gear when running, i did get it to start in gear once and it drove around the property but pushing the clutch in did not put it in nuetral..fix that issue and you have a show winner,,only issue cosmetically is one small ding and the most minor of scratches that are not very noticeable at all. all of the light work both high and low beam, dash light works, gauges work, interior light works. tires are fine, wheels look new, carpet and headliner and door panels and seats all look new..this is a collectors car for sure..this is a "no reserve" auction so please only bid if serious about buying this car, it will need to be towed, will not drive as of right now. may be a stuck clutch, pressure plate or may just need a new clutch, info i got about the car is that the previous owner , who is deceased, restored the car and was driving it to local shows and it then went into storage and sat for some time.brakes work fine also..again, it is "no reserve" which is to say the high bidder wins the car. you are responsible for shipping...if you are in or within 20 miles of 19111, i can trailer it to you..starting the bidding low but this is not a car you will find again that easily..bid away. ps,,had a question about the model number,,i had to choose one , so chose model 96 in the heading but not sure which model it is,,it is a 2 door with a full back seat.. but not sure of the actual model number,,the tags on it in the photos say 1927, but it is a 1928,, the tags will stay on the car to go with it,,also has the engine crank handle to go with it also..if you would like more photos or info, feel free to ask and i will send more to you or it can be seen in person in northeast phila pa 19111On Jul-10-18 at 20:39:06 PDT, seller added the following information: a bidder asked about buying it before the end of the auction, you can use the buy it now or the car is for sale locally , so yes, the auction can be cancelled and all bids cancelled if someone buys the car before the end of the auction, feel free to call to come buy the car. in person sales will be in cash , no holds or deposits, will only cancel the auction with a cash in hand purchase, otherwise the auction will play out and high bidder wins. call 215-713-8913 On Jul-12-18 at 04:50:19 PDT, seller added the following information: a bidder asked "is there anything besides the clutch that would need to be done to make a driver",,the simple answer is NO, looking this over top and bottom, it appears every grease fitting and part has been attended to or replaced. things that appear new are the roof, entire interior, wheels and the body looks great too, all glass is crack free, running boards and all emblems and chrome look amazing,.i would say fix the clutch and you have a driver, due to not being used or driven in quite a few years, the usual things ,which are simple and expected, should be done, i would suggest cleaning out the fuel tank and a little carb adjusting or something like that, i did drain the old fuel and put fresh fuel and it started up and idles fine but it would be a good idea to do those things. the clutch is really the only issue that i can see ! feel free to come check it out in person or have a representative check it out for you, there are agencies that have a service where you can have them assess the car for you if you are not local.
