MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this 1976 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, built on July 20, 1976 in General Motors’ St. Louis, Missouri factory. This is a very desirable Corvette that is optioned out the way you want to find them with white on black color combo, 4-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, power steering and brakes! This is an overall original survivor Corvette that still retains its numbers matching L48 350ci V8. Dressed in Classic White (code 10), this car’s paint and trim are in very original good order. The windows are in overall great shape but there are light blemishes on the windshield from past wiper blades. The car’s lights, including its signature round taillamps are look good while the car’s bodywork is straight and solid. This example features T-top roof panels, which were a very popular option. The car’s bumpers fit well to the body, the engine bay and the undercarriage are very tidy. Under the forward-hinged hood is the numbers matching L48 version of Chevrolet’s 350 CID small-block V-8 engine. Backing up the motor is a Muncie M20 wide-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 3.36:1 rear end. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes and power windows. This Corvette rolls on Goodyear Eagle GAs, size P225/70R15 at all four corners. Each one surrounds a Rally, or “turbine” style steel wheel. The tires and wheels are in overall good condition. Inside, the black interior (code 192) in in overall good condition. The bucket seats look great, as does the newer matching carpet while the headliner and stock four-spoke steering wheel are in original condition. The inner door panels with their woodgrain inserts are in good order and the instrument panel and center stack come with a full array of gauges. Even the “Door Ajar” warning light still works. The shifter is in good order and a Retro Sound AM/FM stereo with auxiliary capability completes the interior. For 1976, Corvettes featured steel floor panels shielding the catalytic converter exhaust. These steel floor panels weighed less than the previous fiberglass ones and reduced interior noise levels. To further reduce cabin noise levels, cowl induction was dropped in favor of the air cleaner ducted over the radiator, picking up outside air from the front of the car, thus reducing wind turbulence at the base of the windshield. The hood was carried over, with its cowl vent grille and induction system opening becoming non-functional. The optional cast aluminum wheels were finally made available, which reduced the unsprung weight of the car by 32 pounds. Nearly 15 percent of the cars were ordered with these new wheels. A standard steel rim spare was used. This was the last year for optional white striped tires, as 86 percent of the cars were being delivered with the optional white lettered tires. A new rear nameplate for the rear bumper cover was introduced, eliminating the individual “Corvette” letters used since 1968. An unwelcome change was the “Vega GT” four-spoke steering wheel, although its smaller diameter did provide extra room and eased entry/exit. The steering wheel, color-keyed to the interior, continued on 1977 through 1979 models, limited to non-tilt wheel cars only. GM’s “Freedom” battery, a new sealed and maintenance-free unit, was now installed in all cars. The rear window defroster option was changed from the forced-air type of previous years to the new “Electro-Clear” defogger, an in-glass heated element type. Even without a convertible model, the Corvette still set new sales records. Competition to this Corvette in 1976 included the Avanti II, Jaguar’s XJ-S and Nissan’s 260Z and 280Z models. If you want a genuine piece of Rolling Americana from the year when the Bi-centennial was Big News, there’s no better place to start than with a Chevrolet Corvette, America’s Only Sports Car. Visit MotoeXotica Classic Cars today and look this one over. This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 90,016 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! PLEASE CLICK HERE TO VIEW OUR YOUTUBE VIDEO!!!!!!!!
