2001 Jaguar S-Type Sedan 3.0L V6 Automatic transmission. I bought this as a nifty car to own. Then I realized with all cars pushing 18yrs old there are things that will go bad and or need maintenance. I am a long time Volvo owner and am comfortable working on those cars - didn't want to have to learn another make's idiosyncrasies. Here's what I know about the car: Good: Great straight body, no cracks in the windshield, new AC Condenser, doesn't overheat, leather interior is OK - has some wear evident on the front seat bolsters, good tires about 60% left, brakes are solid. Needs Work: Has a gear box fault - while I haven't noticed any shifting issues - I haven' driven it very much - some street and short highway driving - in that time it shifted fine and didn't notice any issues. CAT system fault - This is related to the Computerized Suspension and Traction Control - seems fine to me and handled bumps OK. But, didn't have the energy to trouble shoot. The Cassette player spits out tapes - probably a broken belt Has an engine noise - sounds like a bearing in the serpentine belt tensioner May need timing belt tensioner replaced as well Needs AC Charge - replaced the AC Condenser but it worked fine prior to replacing the AC Condenser Please ask questions - I'm not a Jaguar guy - but will attempt to answer all questions to best of my abilities.
