Vehicle Detail

Up for bids is my 1953 Buick SPECIAL. I have owned this car for 16 years and my late wife and I used it for car shows and cruise-ins until my wife passed in 2013. I've taken it to a few events since then but it's not the same. I still drive it occasionally just to keep the battery up and everything working but I think it's time to let it go. This is a mostly original car with an older amateur restoration that is starting to show it's age but is still a pretty sharp car and still turns heads wherever it goes. This was the last year and model for the "inline 8 cylinder" engine ( the 53 SUPER andROADMASTER models all had the nailhead V8. This was originally a Kansas car so there were only a couple of rust spots that were cut out and had new metal welded back in. Interior is good...seats, door panels, headliner, carpet (carpet is 16+ years and is fading a little, but not bad) Engine is a 263 cu in straight/inline 8 cylinder that runs good, doesn't smoke, knock,or leak oil. Transmission is a standard (3 on the tree)3 speed. (of the "Special" models made for 1953, only 20% had manual transmissions) Clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing have less than 10,000 miles on them. All lights and gauges work, original door and trunk locks work, clock was rebuilt several years ago but stopped working after the car battery was replaced. The radio hums but doesn't play. (this car did not come equipped with a radio from the factory and the radio delete plate is in the glove box). Tires are older but still have a lot of tread left on them. All of the glass is usable but are showing some signs of delaminating, scratches, and the windshield has a BB size chip on the passenger side. Car runs and drives good and cruises down the highway at 60-70 MPH without a problem. The last time I drove it any distance was last fall when I took it on a 80 mile round trip. This is a driver, it is not a top of the line show car or a trailer Queen. The Old Cars Report Price Guide shows this car as a #4 - #3 ($5000-$11000) My reserve price is well below the lower price guide. I have A clear Missouri title in my name. Mileage listed is what is on the odometer...true mileage is unknown. Please read entire ad, look at pictures and bid accordingly. Vehicle is located in Westphalia, MO (65085) and my phone # is (573) 455-2282 if you would like to make arrangements to see the car before bidding. $300 deposit to Paypal due within 48 hours of auction ending, balance in cash or cashiers check within one week.. Vehicle must be picked up within one week unless other arrangements are made Prior to bidding. Vehicle is sold As-Is Where-Is and buyer is responsible for pick-up or delivery. Car sold with low opening bid and very low reserve!!
