Vehicle Detail
Please read everything-this is a honest description of the car. Selling my corvette due to unforeseen circumstances. 1964 corvette coupe original tuxedo black with black vinyl interior car 327/300HP power-glide / power steering / power brakes / power windows. This car was purchased around the Wichita, KS area by the first owner ( A lady) car was sold to the second owner in the early 70's who drove it to Wichita State University; for some reason the second owner purchased a new short block. So the engine block is not original but the heads / transmission are original. car was sold to the third owner in 1984. I am the fourth owner of this car. I am from Wichita KS and was transferred to the Carolina's due to my job, the car is with me in York SC The third owner stripped the original paint and repainted the car around 1985. It is a amateur paint job-the paint is peeling and is bubbling in areas. The car has only been painted once. There are nick and scratches in the paint as well. The third owner wife backed the car over something and tore the rear exhaust valance removable cover. The car was then parked in a barn in 1989 (ran when parked)-and sat until i purchased it. The motor is FREE. At one point, some thieves broke into the barn and stole the original intake manifold / carburetor and valve covers, but thankfully left the original tach drive distributor. the intake and carb in picture are off a 1963 327 from a impala. ( they are just sitting there and are not bolted on) This is a no hit body-the doors all fit nice with the front fenders. the pass door sags a little when you open and close it but just worn bushings. All the glass is nice and original with exception for the windshield which is in good shape but looks to have been replaced before. I have original bumpers plus one set of extra rear bumpers. Bumpers are solid but would need re-chromed. car has little over 80 thousand miles on her which are original. The interior seats and carpet have rotted away but the door panels are in surprisingly good shape. Upon inspection I noted the birdcage is solid. I removed some interior trim and checked the windshield frame for corrosion and was all solid. Also checked behind kick panels-solid there too. I did some poking around on the frame with a screwdriver and found a soft spot in the LH rear frame (in front of rear tire) where it kicks up over rear axle. This is a common spot for these to rust. Also I noted the rh drip rail has some rust and will need replaced. ( they reproduce them and are fairly easy to change). Overall this is a good solid complete accident free car with a nice dash / body with one repaint. It is a excellent resto-mod candidate which was my intentions to do to her. There is a minimal reserve on the car-mainly to protect my investment . I reserve right to end auction early.
