1965 Ford Mustang Convertible VIN 5F08C722067 (5)1965 (F)Dearborn (08)Convertible (C ) Optional 200hp 289ci 2V V8 (722067) Sequential Number Body 76B Color X Trim F6 Date 10S DSO 25 Axle 6 Trans 6 (76B ) Convertible, Pony Interior (X)Vintage Burgundy Metallic (F6) White Crinkle Vinyl with Black Appointments, Pony Interior (10S) May 10, 1965 (25)Richmond (6)2.80:1 Conventional (6)C4 Automatic Car is low mileage, very mechanically sound, safe, fun to drive, and has been maintained mostly in its original condition. The car is a very desirable body and trim color, with the deluxe interior. Mileage listed is Actual and is titled as such. I have owned this car for about 18 years. Originally, I purchased this car with the idea of driving and enjoying it and eventually doing a concours restoration. My interests and time constraints have changed, so I hope to eventually find a convertible that has already been concours restored some time in my future travels. The older gentleman I purchased this car from was probably the second and fourth owner. He had driven the car as a Sunday driver for years, sold it to a friend who did the same, and then had purchase the car back and continued to do the same. The car has never been taken off the road for any length of time. Along the way, he had the rear quarters replaced with metal and had the engine and transmission overhauled. The car was only out of service during the repairs. The car was originally vintage burgundy, but when the rear quarters were replaced, the color was changed to Rangoon Red. This paint job was done probably 30+ years ago and was more for practicality than for cosmetics. The quality of the paint job is fair from 30+ feet away, but needs to be re-painted. The paint has some chips, but is not peeling or anything like that, however. Also, there are the typical Mustang rust areas that will need attention: the lower doors (front), the back of the front quarters, the front of the rear quarters and the rear cowl. The floor pans and other areas of the car seem to be very solid. The motor runs very strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. The motor is the correct block casting and has most if not all of the original build parts. The brakes are good and do not pull when stopping. Steering is tight and does not have play. The power top works as it should and there is not a lot of wind noise. I am not sure of any leaks because I do not drive the car in the rain. The seat upholstery was replaced about 10 years ago and nice condition. The gauges, horn, heater, radio, wipers and lights are all functional. 3-point seatbelts were added for safety. The carb was rebuilt and fuel pump replaced about 2 years ago, along with the fuel tank, fuel sender, radiator and a 6-blade fan. The mufflers and exhaust appear to be in good condition of have a good original type of sound. The oil has just been changed and the transmission pan gasket replaced to decrease a small Transmission fluid leak. The 17” Torque Thrust wheels were added only because one of the original steel wheels had a wobble to it. I should be able to supply the factory hubcaps with the spinners to the auction winner (will have to look for them a little bit). I also have a new front bumper that can go with the car. This car is sound and fun to drive. If you are looking for a car you can drive now and restore eventually to any level you want, this is your car. All of the bones are with this car to do a full concours restoration if that is what you desire. I will be glad to answer your questions through e-mail initially and then we can talk by phone if necessary. I have more pictures of the undercarriage, block casting number and a few more of the bubbling areas on the lower fenders and doors. Also, will be glad to help get the car on a truck if you need to have it picked-up.
