Vehicle Detail
1979 FORD PINTO STATION WAGON "Movie Car" from PING PONG SUMMER !!! Very Low Mileage from PING PONG SUMMER Movie. This is the same 1979 Ford Pinto Station Wagon that appears briefly in Director Michael Tully's "Coming of Age" film Ping Pong Summer starring Susan Sarandon. The film was shot entirely on location in Ocean City Maryland in 2012 and released in 2014.The scene in which this 1979 Blue Ford Pinto Station Wagon first appears in the film "Ping Pong Summer" is when Rad Miracle played by Marcello Conte walks to his summer cottage carrying a ping pong paddle. As he strolls past a Maryland State Police car parked in front of his home there are two other vehicles in driveways in the background. A Blue Ford Pinto Station Wagon and a Yellow Volkswagen Bus. This scene occurs at approximately the 17:00 minute mark in the DVD version of the film. The next and final segment in which the car appears occurred at the 35:30 minute mark and lasts for approximately 20 seconds. In this extended segment Rad Miracle is walking down the street towards the camera carrying a gallon milk jug. As he does so a Red Chevrolet IROC 2 slowly turns the corner and menacingly approaches from behind. In the background also is this 1979 Ford Pinto Station Wagon. It is this same iconic scene which would later form the basis for one of the films official posters. Due to copyright law I cannot show an image of the poster here. I have however included in this listing several pictures taken by me of the car "On Set". In addition a simple Google search will enable those interested to view online this same poster with this 1979 Ford Pinto Station Wagon now "Forever Immortalized" on film and in print! The car was purchased by me in Las Cruces, New Mexico about 15 years ago from a car dealer who I think had taken it in on trade from the original owner (an elderly gentleman) who was no longer able to drive it. The Pinto since it is now almost 40 years old spent it's first 25 years in Colorado/New Mexico and these last 15 years in the North East. After I had purchased the car due to it's very low mileage (17,000 at the time) I was hesitant to increase the miles and contracted a Car Hauling company to bring the vehicle to Pennsylvania. The Pinto's present mileage is now only 18,600 as a result. (See Speedometer / Odometer photo with Pennsylvania DOT Documentation in the listing.) The interior is like new with the exception of cracks in the dash pad and tears in the headliner .The dash pad has a dash pad cover and the headliner has not yet been replaced but I recently purchased at a cost of $300 a new "Ready to Install" headliner from SMS Auto Fabrics Canby, Oregon. This new headliner is made from the original Ford Factory material used on the car. The exterior was repainted in the original "Baby Blue" color by the Dealer. I have included in the listing a mixture of photo stills taken in 2012 on location in Ocean City where the movie Ping Pong Summer was filmed. So if you want to own a piece of movie memorabilia here's your chance! Happy Bidding! I'm a "Private Seller" but here's some good advice from an Ebay Dealer with respect to transporting classic cars: *ATTN: CLASSIC CAR BUYERS*A lot of our out of state customers ask if these cars can be driven long distance * We stress that it is best to have these cars transported to your area * These are classic cars and do not get many miles put on them from year to year * We strongly recommend transport to your mechanic that you know and trust to do a complete safety inspection on the vehicle * Your local U Haul can rent you a trailer and truck reasonably priced * We do this for your safety and convenience * Many of these cars were not designed to travel on interstates and turnpikes at high rates of speed when they were new
