2002 Toyota Prius Hybrid 177,818 Miles PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE YOU BID!! For sale is a 2002 Toyota Prius Hybrid car that is great on the gas mileage! This car was running strong with no issues at all and was used as a daily commuter car for about 1000 miles a week. This car HAD no issues for a long time with no issues at all. It does have dent and dings in it but considering the age is a great looking vehicle. The inside is clean and this car is ready to drive if someone wants to put the time to get it fixed. The car was driving fine until one day the triangle of death came on and then the check engine light came on. I was able to keep driving the car for about another 30 minutes home with reduced power. I took it to the Toyota dealer two different times and they keep telling me that the codes represent that the hybrid battery is bad. I have pulled the hybrid battery out and have tested every single cell and they all test positive for being strong and functioning properly. I also replaced the computer and the relay in the hybrid battery with another used one and it also presents with the same problem. When you go out and get up to speed it eventually clicks and the brake and ABS light come on. I have been able to drive it but loss of power keeps you from going very far. The Toyota dealer stated that a code came on for the transmission but they felt like it was because the hybrid battery was causing it to present with other errors. This only happened the second time they plugged the scanner in. I have never had an issue with the transmission in the past and it was shifting fine for me. It also sound like a wheel bearing is starting to go bad in the back so that may need to be replaced as well. The 12v accessory battery was tested and seems to be running properly with no issues. I’m definitely not a mechanic and know nothing about hybrid cars so I’ve done everything I know how to fix this car. It’s time to sell it and get it out of my driveway and let someone else take it over and fix it. I feel it has a lot of life left in it and would make anyone a great car if they could get it running strong. Please ask me any questions you might have before you try to purchase this vehicle. THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD AS-IS AND WOULD NEED TO BE HAULED AWAY WITH A TRAILER. I do not know at all what is wrong with it so I can not guarantee the life of this vehicle.
