Vehicle Detail

1977 TRIUMPH T140V BONNEVILLE 750cc twin, in VERY GOOD and VERY ORIGINAL RUNNING condition. This sweet bike is VERY clean, unmolested and in NICE shape, especially if you like the look of an unrestored survivor - all sheet metal/bodywork is original, the classic slimline gas tank still wears the factory white over blue paint with hand painted gold striping. Matching frame & engine numbers, clean title, READY TO RIDE! PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and LOOK CLOSELY AT ALL PHOTOS! Offered here is a 1977 TRIUMPH T140V BONNEVILLE 750cc twin, in VERY GOOD and (nearly) 100% ORIGINAL RUNNING condition! This sweet bike is VERY clean, unmolested and in NICE shape, especially if you like the look of an unrestored survivor - overall cosmetic condition FAIR to GOOD, all sheet metal/bodywork is original, the classic slimline gas tank still wears the factory white over blue paint with hand painted gold striping, just has one small ding on the front left and a couple chips elsewhere, some minor crazing in the white paint, but overall still a very nice original paint job. Chrome is pretty good in general, a bit tired, faded and/or worn in some places, as shown in the photos below, still pretty darn good for a 40 year old bike. Some light pitting on fork tubes, mostly up near the bottom clamp, beyond the seal travel area. Paint on the frame is faded and worn, spots of surface rust where the paint has worn off - the bike likely spent some of it's early life outside, but it's not bad at all - the worst of it is probably the rust on the heads of the 4 outer cylinder head bolts, which is easliy remedied. There is NO heavy rust anywhere on this bike and NO corrosion damage on the aluminum. Original Dunlop rims are straight & true, some minor flaws in the chrome, overall quite good. NO bent or broken fins on the engine, NO dents or gouges in the alloy engine covers, crankcases are PERFECT with NO damage of any kind, NO dings, crimps or cracks in any of the frame tubes, matching engine & frame number T140V EP82784. 14,846 miles currently showing on the Smiths speedo (and counting - I ride this bike almost every day), which is the original mileage, purchased from the original owner about 7 years ago, pretty much as you see it here... I replaced the high-rise handlebars with lower UK-style bars, but the cables & handlebar wiring have not been shortened, you could go back to the 8" rise US bars if you wanted to... Carbs have been cleaned, rebuilt with new o-rings/gaskets & synched, valves checked, fresh engine, gearbox & primary oil, less than 50 miles on new front brake pads and a brand new Lucas rotor (charging system works great). It looks like the top end has been off once before it came to me, probably has fresh rings at a minimum. Previous Owner also installed a Boyer Brandsen electronic ignition, replaced the fuel lines and removed the turn signals That's it... Everything else as far as I can see is just as it left the factory! Even the wiring harness is 100% original and unmolested (other than the addition of the Boyer), right down to the factory metal straps securing the wiring to to the frame. Beyond the cosmetics, overall mechanical condition is EXCELLENT. Turn on the gas taps, tickle the 930 Amal Concentrics and the engine fires right up on the first kick pretty much every time, runs crisp and clean with no hint of smoke or unusual noises, settles into a nice smooth idle with minimal warm up. The 750 twin pulls hard through all the gears, the sweet Triumph 5-speed transmission shifts cleanly, clutch, brakes and suspension all work as they should, tires have not seen many miles and have plenty of good tread, lights & gauges work, wiring harness still has the turn signal leads if you wanted to replace them... As a bonus, the engine is amazingly oil-tight (for a Triumph or any other Brit bike for that matter!), and even after a hard ride does not mark it's territory with oil stains on my garage floor! As with any 40+ year old vintage bike, there are a few flaws or things that could use some attention, and I will try to cover everything that I am aware of here: the left fork seal weeps a bit, you could dress the light pitting with emery cloth but sooner or later it should get new fork tubes; the speedometer cable housing is worn near the steering head, speedo needle is a bit jumpy, probably wants a new cable; the original seat cover has a small 1/4" tear on the right side near the latch but is otherwise in great shape; the rear brake light switch needs a new rubber dust cover... That's all I can think of! Obviously these are all very minor issues and have not stopped me from enjoying this bike to the fullest - took it out this morning for a 20-mile ride in the hills south of San Jose, and 8 hours later I still have a big smile on my face - that should tell you all you need to know about this sweet Bonnie!!! Sold with clean California title in my name and non-op CA registration! OFFERED HERE WITH LOW RESERVE!!! On Dec-14-17 at 17:48:19 PST, seller added the following information: THANKS to all who have bid so far on my '77 Bonnie, and to those of you who are watching the auction! A quick apology here for the fact that the 24 photos in my listing are not "SuperSizing" the way they are supposed to - it's a temporary glitch between me, Auctiva and Ebay and try as I might I can't get a resolution from either company short of cancelling the listing and starting over, which I didn't really want to do. THEREFORE - if you need to see more DETAILS of any particular part of this bike, please send me an Ebay message and I'll reply with hi-res photos of whatever you want to see... THANKS
