I have a nice 1965 Mercury Cyclone for sale. I am not a dealer, body man or certified mechanic. I will try to describe this car the best I can. Having not purchased this car new there will be uncertainties that I can not explain. The following description will be based on my observations and personal opinion. This is a nice solid car that appears to have never been restored but only maintained to operate properly and have a nice presentable appearance. It has a 289 4bbl motor with a 3 speed on the column, manual steering and manual brakes. It also has Rally Pac gauge cluster and remote trunk release. Instead of saying what works I will say everything works except the clock, and the second hand on it moves occasionally. The car starts runs and drives well. The original choke setup is still intact and it works. Brake pedal is near the top. The odometer is currently a little over 40000 miles. While I would be surprised if this were original I have reason to wonder. The vehicle overall just doesn't show much wear. The trunk doesn't even look like its been used. The glass is not scratched and is still nice. The windshield may be original but I think it is at least 40 yrs old because it has a sticker on it dated 1976. There is a star shaped crack that can be covered with a penny and it does show normal wear you would associate with 40000 miles of travel, but I would not feel its in need of replacement. I took the car to a Midas Repair shop to have the front end checked out just for peace of mind. They were amazed and could find nothing that needed replaced and told me it was tight. It was noted that all ball joints were riveted as they were from the factory. Someone would have gone to great pains to rivet in new ball joints if they have been replaced. Also I have seen no leaking fluids. Exterior. All panels and gaps are straight and proper. Doors open and close easily and windows work well. Vent windows work properly and the rubber seal is still pliable. I have been all over the body with a weak plastic magnet and can find no place it wont stick. I can find no sign of any rust repair. I can find no sign of body damage repair. The undercarriage is in unusually good condition with only minor surface rust in places, and no signs of repair. The paint is showing its age and is crazing and thinning in places. There are areas I believe have been repainted but are hard to find as everything is uniform. I can find no overspray or taping lines anywhere. Overall it has a good appearance but upon close inspection imperfections in the paint are evident. A perfectionist would want to paint it but as a survivor it is still quite presentable. All chrome trim and emblems are in nice condition. The car is what I would call factory straight. Interior. The inside is in very good condition. The dash is very nice. The dash pad has no cracks. The headliner is good, seats and carpet are good. The package tray behind the rear seat is good. Console is nice. Drivers door has some surface rust near the area you would rest your arm with the window down. Door panels front and rear are good. Under dash is very clean for a car of this era. I can find no wires under the dash that have been cut or spliced. When you open the door all courtesy lights come on and the inside has a nice presentable appearance. Overall this vehicle is in very good survivor condition. It may be one of the nicest Mercury Cyclones you could find. You are welcome to come see and drive the car.
