The 3/4-ton pickup is equipped with part-time four-wheel drive and three engine choices, the most popular of which is the 6.6-liter turbodiesel Duramax V8 in combination with a 5-speed Allison automatic transmission. In 2005, this engine gets a horsepower boost to 310-hp and a torque boost to 605 lb-ft. Other engines are the standard 300-hp, 6.0-liter V8 and a 8.1-liter, 340-hp V8 with 455 lb-ft of torque. A 4-speed automatic, 5-speed manual, and 6-speed manual are transmission choices.The 2005 Sierra 2500HD is available in either Work Truck, SLE, or SLT trims. The Work Truck comes as a Regular Cab, seating two or three in one row of seats, while the SLE and SLT are either Extended or Crew Cab, with two rows of seats for up to six people.
