Vehicle Detail
1964 Corvair Greenbrier van. Had been sitting for many years when I got it. I put on new tires, went through the fuel system, new tank and sending unit, rubber lines and when the fuel pump failed I put on an electric one. Breaks: I replaced master cylinder and wheel cylinders and two of the rubber lines were collapsed so I replaced them. Engine was leaking oil, so new valve cover and oil pan gaskets and I replaced the o-rings in the push rod tubes. Original 3-speed had issues with the synchros, so I bought a 4-speed and had it rebuilt, put in new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. I greased the pilot bearing but should have replaced it, because it makes a noise the first time you release the clutch but then gets quiet after that. I also replaced the exhaust, new pipe muffler and gaskets. Engine: I replaced spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor and changed it to electronic ignition so no more points to deal with. Interior is very nice, no tears in seats. Vinyl rug is faded but in pretty good condition, so are door cards and headliner. Body had dings and pits on the lower section, probably from the gravel roads in SD. So since I live on a gravel road, I sanded and painted lower section with bed liner to protect it. I have taken it as far as my abilities and facilities will allow me. It is hard to do a quality restoration in an unheated pole barn with dirt floors. Good driver quality vehicle! Time to pass it on, to let someone else drive it or finish it. $500.00 deposit due with 48 hrs of end of auction, so I know you are for real.
