Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1972 Grand Prix model J. This is a really great car and a classic design that gets thumbs up everywhere it goes. I bought this car to have a classic Pontiac to drive while my other Pontiac was being finished, and that car is nearing completion so it is time form someone else to enjoy this one. The car is an absolute joy to drive. It is powered by a non-numbers matching 400 4BBL (Q-jet) and turbo 400 transmission. It starts quickly every time, maintains great oil pressure, pulls hard and the transmission shifts crisply. Last summer I drove this car on a trip well over 600 miles round trip without a hiccup. This is an AC car, and everything is there, but does not blow cold and I have not ever tried to troubleshoot it. There is an R134 conversion sticker on the car, so someone worked on it at some point. This car runs at about 180 degrees and even stays under 200 degrees in heavy traffic on hot days, because I installed an awesome BeCool aluminum radiator that really works well. Actual vehicle mileage unknown. Drive this car anywhere and enjoy it! The paint on this car is driver quality and not show quality. There are a few imperfections here and there but it presents well for not being show quality. The car was painted and in its present condition when I bought it in January 2016, so I am unsure of what has been previously done, but it does look like there has been some repair on the passenger side quarter (not sure if it was rust or minor collision damage). The interior looks good too but is also driver quality, with a repaired dash pad crack (very typical), some cosmetic door panel issues, a loose seam on the driver's seat (see pic), etc. It just needs some typical finishing. Again, this is a solid presentable driver but not a show car, which is certainly reflected in the price. NADA shows average retail at over $10k and high retail at $24. The chrome bumpers on this car were redone by the previous owner and are absolutely perfect. and the added reproduction hood tach not only looks great, it works perfectly. The undercarriage looks good on this car as well. This car is kept inside and out of the weather when not being driven. The Rallye II wheels look good and the tires have tons of tread left. This is a front disc brake car that stops straight as an arrow. You can contribute the rumble to a pair of Flowmaster mufflers that sound great with the 400. The factory radio is in place but does not work. there is an MP3 player hooked to the speakers, that is mounted out of sight inside the console. The factory front seat belts have been replaced with aftermarket belts that have shoulder harnesses. The originals are in a box and go with the car. The factory trunk release works great. Please look at the video I took of the car, which should really help give you an idea of its condition. Please contact me with any questions you may have before bidding, because a bid is a contract to purchase. Yes, you may come look at it if you are able, and as with any car I would encourage you to look before bidding. This vehicle is offered as is where is, with no warranties expressed or implied. You may pick it up, drive it away or have it shipped, but the responsibility and cost are yours. I will help if I can. I have clear title in hand in my name, but the car and title do not leave until I have cash in hand or your bank check clears. Thanks for looking! If you want a car that looks good and drives great, that you can drive without worrying about every little thing and that won't break the bank, then this may be your car. 1972 Grand Prix - YouTube Video will open in a new window [isdntekvideo]
