Up for sale is a 2004 Mazda RX8 with automatic transmission with paddle shifters. I think it has every option; Leather interior 6 cd changer. sunroof, sat nav, and power seats and windows. It has 4 almost new tires. The previous owner had the engine rebuilt and let it sit in his garage for four years and never broke it in. Don't ask me why I don't know. I got 500 miles into the break in period when I got an intermittent P0301 blinking CEL code (Cylinder #1 misfire) on the freeway and the engine bogged down and quit. (The engine showed signs of low compression before that though)While the car sat there some coolant exited the cap and overflow tube but I had no other indications of an overheat on the temp gauge and the reservoir was slightly over full. I got it towed to my home. It turns over but will not start. I would assume that the engine has failed and needs to be rebuilt. There is a chance it is something else but I don't know. It currently has a BHR mid pipe (The Cat is bad but I still have it) and Bennett built LS2 ignition in it but I am removing those before I sell it. We can negotiate those items if you are interested. I have way too much money in the car. The cost for someone else to rebuild the motor is at least $1600. A rebuild kit of seals O-rings etc. is $500 and the DVD is $28 from Atkins Rotary. Do your research if you are thinking of rebuilding the engine yourself. The engines are very small and easy remove and ship to a builder if you are handy. The car has some dings in the body the bumper could stand to be repainted but still looks good and I wasn't going to mess with it. The body is not perfect but it is a great looking car. The driver's seat has a busted seam on the lumbar support. This is a great project for someone I just have too much money in it. I have not lost interest in it but my wife has... so it has to go.
