Vehicle Detail
Meet Molly She is 1966 Ford Mustang GT Her VIN # is 6F09A112230 assembled in Dearborn, MI. She is Tahoe Turquoise with a 289 4 Valve, V8 Engine that has approximately 76000 original miles on it. She came from the factory with the GT Equipment package, a 4-speed standard transmission and Deluxe Interior. Tahoe Turquoise to my knowledge was a 1966 color only, in 65 they used Twilight or Midnight Turquoise which leans more toward green, where this one is on the blue end of the spectrum. Her build date is September 14, 1965 she is “63B” car which was the designation for the Luxury Interior (Pony Seats) The original owner and his brother bought Molly at CROWN FORD in NASHVILLE, TN to make a “drag car” out of. But their mother fell for the car, and the brothers bought a Chevy. When Molly was still on the lot, mom looked over and saw a car with the Styled Steel Wheels, which she preferred. The invoice says Wire Wheel Covers, but what Mama wants, Mama gets. So, the salesman swapped them out on the spot. Owner #2 bought Molly in the late 70’s or early 80’s. He won a few trophies with her in the local Mustang Club car shows. He put the first paint job on her. Owner # 3 worked at the Ford glass plant in Nashville, TN and drove her daily. He lived in Lebanon, TN his commute was about 5 miles either way. The story goes that in the late 80’s he got the door dinged in the parking lot, so he quit driving her. Stacy’s repaired the door and repainted the car for him in 1989 or 1990. Owner # 4 was Pete (who I bought her from) his wife had given Molly to him as a gift. She was cherished for many years. When his wife died of cancer, the car had too many memories, so was eventually sold to me and delivered to Texas in 2013. Pete & his wife bought the car in 1999, in 2000 he completed a total redo of the interior. Then upgraded rear suspension and put on new rear brakes from Praise Dyno brakes. At some point, he also added the A/C unit from Vintage Air Mustang was born in April of 1964 cars made before September of 1964 are considered 1964 ½ Fastback (2+2) was introduced in 1965 Carroll Shelby introduced his GT-350’s in the fastback model (six convertibles exist from 1966) Engine options were · 260V-8 (early) · 200 Six Cylinder (4 lug wheels) · 200 Horsepower 289 (C-Code) · 225 Horsepower 289 (A-Code) · 271 Horsepower 289 (K-Code) ( aka Hi-po 289) GT package is second only to GT-350 in desirability and value today Mustang Decoding Information 63 Body Code is Fastback Body B Interior Code is the Luxury Interior and Seats U Color Code Tahoe Turquoise F7 Interior Code Parchment with Aqua Trim (Luxury) 14J Date Code 14 of September 36 District Code (which ordered the vehicle) Louisville 1 Axle Ratio Code 3.00:1 5 Transmission Code 4-Speed Manual 6F09A112230 6- 1966, F- Dearborn, 09-Fastback, A- A Code Engine When Molly came to live with us, we had a Shelby American Automobile Club ( SAAC) and Mustang Club of America ( MCA) certified sanctioned inspection.
