Vehicle Detail
1981 Honda Goldwing, GL1100 Interstate model, 2nd registered owner, 84K miles, most of which was accumulated by the original owner on a series of cross country trips. I had the bike sold on ebay several weeks ago, but had to relist it after waiting for ebay's response to the non-paying, non-communicating bidder who had won it. Please do not bid unless you are committed to following through with the purchase. Purchased new on 12/15/80 from Shepard Honda in Rockland. Has been well cared for over the years and looks showroom new. The original burgundy metallic and decals are very nice, and other than having a few tiny chips, this bike is mint. The tires have plenty of meat on them, the engine is spotless and there are zero oil leaks. Has had regular service, oil and fluid changes, most recently last season, when a valve adjustment and carb synchronization were done and the water pump and timing belt were replaced. Retains its original fairing, windshield, hard cases, trunk and seat, which has no rips, and it has a number of OEM Honda accessories added by the original owner, including trailer hitch, chrome engine covers & accents, crash bar, highway pegs and front fender grille. Also has an AM/FM radio and the original Honda speakers. Includes the original key, Owner's Manual and tool kit, as well as a Haynes Repair Manual. This bike is an excellent runner and is road ready as is. If you're familiar with this generation of Wing, you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer one of this vintage. A Bill of Sale will be provided to the winning bidder, and the original title, which remains in the original purchaser's name, will also be included. PLEASE NOTE: Maine is a "Bill of Sale" state, so a title is not required for transfer of a vehicle of this vintage. As a result, the title that I have remains in the original owner's name and has not been transferred to me. To assist out-of-state bidders, because this bike is a non-titled vehicle per Maine's DMV laws, I will provide the winning bidder with a Maine DMV "Letter of Verification," which explains Maine's laws regarding transfers, proves that I own the bike, and can be used to get a title in states that require them, such as Ohio and/or Florida. If you would like to verify this info yourself before bidding, the number for Maine DMV is (207) 624-9000. Thanks! This bike is available for local pickup, but the winning bidder can choose to arrange for shipping, which will be at their own expense. A $500 deposit via Paypal will be due from the winning bidder within 48 hours of end of auction, with the balance due in cash at time of pickup, Pickup must be within 14 days of the end of the auction. If the 14-day pickup window is an issue, as long as full payment is made within the specified time period, I will work with the buyer on a mutually convenient pickup arrangement. This bike is also for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Please message me with any questions or to request additional pictures. Thanks, Steve
