Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1976 Scout II, the only year they had the center grille of 15 horizontal bars split into 3 sections. The Scout has 4 wheel drive, 4 cylinder 196ci motor, 4 speed manual transmission, TC-145 transfer case, 3.54 gear ratio. I have the original line ticket and receipts dating back to 1999 from the previous owner. Within the last 6 months I have replaced the starter, alternator, K&N air filter, new clutch, turned flywheel, transmission and transfer case rebuilt ($925), new tailgate latch, new door locks, weather stripping on doors, have new weather stripping for tailgate (not installed), rebuilt carburetor, new u-joint for front and rear drive shafts, new transmission mount, new gear oil throughout, fresh oil, valve cover gasket, rear seal, pan gasket, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, wipers, fuel filter, rear view mirror, side mirrors, brake proportioning valve, brake booster and master cylinder, (pads and shoes in good shape), brakes need bled, oil pump, aftermarket cd player, speedometer cable, rhino lined the floor of the interior, flashers-all new. I got the truck all put back together and I can't quite get it running correctly, it backfires sometimes when I shut it off and wants to die when stopping. I think the carburetor/idle/timing needs to be dialed in. Also while test driving it after getting it together there is a noise (not there prior to work being done) that sounds like the speedometer ticking, or the u-joint was the wrong one( it was tighter than the others installed). I am getting the family ready to move and I don't have the time to work on it anymore (I really don't want to sell it, I love these old Scouts). The truck does run and drive. A few other things to note in pics: chip in windshield, orange peel on paint in the interior (could be sanded), some spots of rust on exterior body, some discoloration on fender paint, some paint got pulled off when I removed graphics, the top has some rust going through where it sits on the body (new metal like $50), sun visors need installed. This would be a great truck for a full restore or just to get running right and have fun driving it. I get a lot of compliments on it. Thanks for looking, let me know if you have any questions. Local pickup only, recommend towing it or trailer. Cash in person, $500 non refundable deposit.
