Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a one owner 2001 BMW R1200C "Phoenix" motorcycle. There were only 429 units built for the US market in 2001. Ohio got 12 units and we were lucky enough to purchase one of the twelve, with almost every option, from Johnny Roman Cycle, one of the earliest BMW and Triumph dealerships in the country. It has sat in a heated shop since 2002 covered. It was started occasionally. It runs like new. The BMW R1200C Cruiser was only built from 1997 to 2004. The first models were called R1200C Classic model. It's Monolever rear suspension/driveshaft turned heads in the late 1990's as the left side of rear wheel is not connected to anything. It first appeared to the public in James Bond 1997 film "Tomorrow Never Dies". It created quite a stir. It made for a very successful launch. The R1200C Cruiser began to win many competitions and alot of Design awards. It became the 1999 and 2000 "Cruiser of the Year" award held by motorcycle magazines the world over. The Phoenix model was the top of the line R1200C's and was only built between 2001 and 2004. It had more chrome, exclusive aluminum wheels, a very low leather solo seat, oval chrome mirrors, an additional headlight, a speedster windshield, and two different highly extravagant twin-tone paintwork options. These extra details accentuated the flowing lines and shape of the Phoenix and makes it stand out among the Classic R1200C models. The paintwork on this model is mandarin non-metallic/graphite metallic with hand painted white pinstriping. As you can see in the picture of paperwork and title, we purchased almost every option that was functional and added to the Phoenix's beauty. Engine guards $400.....Backrest assembly $352....Rear footrests $$260. The bike cost $17,321.65 new. A bike like this can be an investment. I know it's only 16 years old but many older BMW Motorcycles increase in value about 4% a year. Here are some of the specifications: BMW R1200C Phoenix Specificationsengine Type Air-cooled/oil-cooled Boxer twin-cylinder Bore x stroke 101.0 mm x 73.0 mm Displacement 1170 cc Horsepower 61 bhp @ 5,000 rpm Torque 72 lb-ft @ 3,000 rpm Compression ratio 10.0:1 Valve gear Chain-driven, high cam, OHV with adjustable rocker arms Valves 2 x 34 mm intake / 2 x 29 mm exhaust Valves / cylinder Four drivetrain Primary drive 1:1.889 Clutch 165-mm dry, single plate with hydraulic actuation Gear ratios 1st: 2.050:1 2nd: 1.600:1 3rd: 1.270:1 4th: 1.040:1 5th: 0.800:1 Final drive system Enclosed driveshaft with two universal joints Final drive ratio 2.54:1 frame and suspension Frame Three-part, engine/cast aluminum/tubular steel Front suspension BMW Telelever Front travel 5.6 inches Rear suspension BMW Monolever Rear travel 3.9 inches brakes Brake system BMW EVO with full integral ABS Front brakes Two, four-piston fixed calipers Front rotor 12.0 inch dual floating rotors Rear brakes Single, two-piston floating caliper Rear rotor 11.2 inch single floating rotor Actuation Hydraulic, DOT 4 fluid type wheels and tires Front wheel 2.50 x 18 cast alloy, three, single-spoke Rear wheel 4.00 x 15 cast alloy, three, single-spoke Front tire 100/90 x 18 tubeless Rear tire 170/80 x 15 tubeless dimensions Overall length 92.1 inches Overall width 41.3 inches Wheelbase 65.0 inches Ground clearance 5.9 inches Seat height 29.1 inches Steering angle 60.5 degrees Front wheel trail 3.4 inches Weight - Dry 552 lbs. The reserve on this beautiful piece of engineering is really reasonable. We will only allow bids from anyone with more than 10 feedbacks or with anyone having a feedback score of 98% or better. I will block those persons from bidding. If someone has less than those two requirements and really wants to bid and hopefully own this bike.... please contact me through eBay. We can't do anything about eBayers who try to disrupt the process and bid at the last second with no intentions of buying the bike. For that reason please understand that if you get "shut out" at very end you may, very likely, be able to purchase the bike after such mess is straightened out. Winning bidder must send a $500 deposit through PayPal within 48 hours of auction end. The balance can be cash at pick up. It can also be done via money order or bank check. The "Phoenix", however, cannot be taken until such item clears bank. Bike must be paid for in total within fourteen (14) days of auction end. We will, however, hold the bike free of any storage fee for up to 60 days so buyer can connect with shipping agent. There are alot of reputable people driving back and forth across country hauling eBay motorcycle winners bikes. They are very reasonable. They just pull it in van/truck on a lift and strap it down. I will assure purchaser that anyone taking the BMW will most assuredly be watched in that process of making sure it will travel securely and is covered. We will include the high grade cover we have used on it for years. A Battery Tender is also included. One important last point.....the Phoenix is listed in other venues for sale. We reserve the right to end listing at our choosing. We hope this doesn't happen and it is sold through this auction. I own Frease Motorcycle Restoration since 1998 and have sold dozens of motorcycles over my 20 years on eBay, I am proud of my 100% feedback rating and work hard to keep it. Thanks for looking... Good luck and always ride safely..... On May-01-17 at 14:22:09 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to add a few notes. I am replacing the battery. Just ordered one from my distributor and it will be here Thursday. The old battery worked but was at about 70% efficient. Don't want new owner to deal with a problem since replacing battery on an R1200C is a little tricky.....tank has to come off. I noticed a small bubble of air under the plastic chrome tops of the two smaller driving lights below the turn signals. They are plastic pieces that are chrome. The chrome hasn't peeled or cracked and I took pictures but it won't show anything. I just wanted to make sure I pointed it out. Since it is one bubble on each it makes me think it was a problem with alot of R1200C's. Hard to see. I just googled and found two comments. One person noted that early model R1200's had a problem with some of the chrome. It was able to be replaced from BMW. One other person mentions bubble under chrome plastic pieces. All the other chrome plastic pieces are good. I checked everywhere. Like I said it won't show up in a picture so it's really hard to see....just wanted to point it out. Thanks; Billy
