Vehicle Detail
This is a strong running, matching numbers Triumph Tiger 650 with less than 25 miles on a fresh top-end rebuild (documented). Starts first kick every time. It has new EMGO +40 pistons and Hastings rings, the jugs were bored to perfection by Franz & Grubb in North Hollywood (they know their stuff!). The heads have also been gone through, the valves seat perfectly with no leakage whatsoever. This bike has great compression. The valve guides are machined to accept valve stem seals and Kibblewhite seals are installed. I've just installed a brand new Pazon ignition setup and Sparx regulator. Lots of new rubber, brand new battery (i replaced it as I took the pics for this posting). The original carb is installed (Amal 930) but has been gone through, rebuilt with an Amal rebuild kit and works perfectly. It has the upgraded float, viton tipped needle valve and new gaskets. The tank and rear fender are in bare metal but the metal is treated with a phosphate coating and it will not rust. I was going to shoot it with black epoxy primer but you may want to use a lighter color. Winning bidder, if you would prefer it coated with black epoxy primer, just let me know and I will throw that in for you. I already have the materials anyway. It has a kickstand, but not the center stand although I'm throwing in the rear wheel stand you see pictured. This is a great example of a survivor. Nice straight frame, it's not all chopped up and it has all original parts, which is less common these days with all of the Taiwanese reproduction parts available for these bikes. This bike has the original Lucas headlight and the original Smith gauges, which are quite expensive on their own. All of the chrome is in great shape and is original except the mufflers. The exhaust pipes are original, just not the actual mufflers at the end. I even have the original key/lock. Although not pictured, I also have lots of extra little parts: the original chrome choke lever, the points ignition set up, original carb parts and a lot of extra gaskets). This is not a basket case "project" bike. It's ready to ride hard and it looks way cooler than most "restored" bikes IMO. But, if you want to restore it to a more factory original style you can do so as you go, while you ride it. At this price, there's a lot of meat on the bone if you're looking to do a factory restoration then sell it for 10-12K. As you may have realized, folks are either selling a $700 basket case or a 12 thousand dollar restoration. This is a rare opportunity to get a great, solid, original Triumph for a great deal. If you're buying from outside the L.A. metro area, I'm happy to help you out to get it shipped if you make the arrangements. I'm also willing to store the bike for you for a while if you can't pick it up right away, just let me know. Obviously, I'll still send you the title so you have that in your hands. I am the second owner of this bike and got it directly from the original owner. It killed me to have to turn in that old original pink slip from Colorado when I titled it in CA because it was a cool piece of the bike's history. Hopefully, the winning bidder doesn't want to chop this bike up. This is my first Triumph and I love it, but I love my first car even more so I'm using this sale to finish the frame-up restoration I'm doing to it. Happy bidding and thank you!
