Vehicle Detail

Nice 1986 low mileage Corvette Coupe. 84376 actual miles. I am the third owner of it. The engine is the tuned port, fuel injected L-98. In 2010, $2000.00 was put into the engine. A rod bearing had spun, so the engine was taken out and steam cleaned the block and the crank was turned down .010 and new rod, main and cam bearing were put in. New high volume oil pump was also put in as were new injectors (Ford Borg Warner) They atomize better with 3 orifices as opposed to the single for the Vette injectors. New water pump, thermostat, timing chain, serpentine belt tensioners etc. Also new rack and pinion. (It didn't really need it but a friend had one for it so I put it in) I traded valve covers with our 73 Blazer as I thought the orange color gave the under the hood look a little more color and people liked it. The oil pressure is very high all the time having to do with the high performance oil pump and of course the new bottom end and has a heavy duty radiator and radiator boost fan in addition to the regular radiator fan. (these fans are designed to turn on at 229 degrees) Corvette wanted high engine temperatures for best performance. The new thermostat is 190 degrees. It has an engine oil cooler and the performance handling package and includes the Delco-Bilstein shock absorbers. It has power driver's seat, power locks, power windows, removable plexiglass roof panel (blue tint) which is weather checked (looks like little cracks) from age but is still very serviceable. The roof panel fits in the trunk shown in photo 23. Photo 24 show how you can cover items carried in the trunk by use of the pull shade. Electronic air conditioning control and converted to 134 and blows cold. It has cruise control (last time I used it, it wouldn't turn on?) The radio is an after market Sony and works very well. The retractable antennae works well. The transmission is a Turbo Hydramatic 700 R-4, 4 speed automatic. The car is fast and has a nice powerful sound to it. Note: In time the mufflers and possibly pipes from the catalytic converters back to the mufflers should be replaced. The performance handling package (basically heavy duty) gives it a slightly higher stance than the regular Corvette. 12821 were given this option. (looks cool) We averaged 14 to 27 MPG in the city and 20 to 24 in the country. It has a new block heater. We never ran it in the winter as it was stored in a heated building. There were only 126 Vettes made with the blue metallic color. The tires have maybe up to 20000 miles of wear left on them. They are the larger P255/60VR16. It's a real fun car and handles superbly. There are a couple of dings and I've included them in the photos. The major one is around the upper part of the front rider's side wheel well. It needs to have a little more professional attention to it and the right turn guide light lens needs to be replaced with an original lens. See photos 8 and 9. The upper part of the plastic wheel well has a small portion of the plastic broken off and you can seen that in the number 22 photo, it's triangular shaped. The rider's side rear, has some paint that has peeled off above the taillight and can be seen in photo number 10. Photo 11 shows a little scuffing by rear tail/reflector area. Most of it's life has been spent in storage. The steering wheel has most of the grip (alligator skin) on it. The wheels were balanced recently so it goes down the road at all speeds nice and smooth. Very nice handling and with the new rack and pinion, very quick and responsive steering. The NADA guide values this Vette at $17,330. for high retail. The average retail is $10,435 and the low retail is $6595. Value wise we feel this Vette is somewhere between the high and average retail and way, way above the low retail value. It was the fastest American made production car in 1986 and was considered a 150 MPH car. I'm still using the Vette from time to time, so the mileage may go up some. The Vette is in very good shape, I'd take it anywhere. It is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Buyer must pick up the Corvette with in two weeks, from date of sale. I can deliver the vehicle if necessary and upon an agreed upon mileage rate, paid in advance.
