Vehicle Detail
Beautiful red 1970 high top camper style VW bus! We call this one "Fire Truck" and it was love at first sight when I first found this one. I always hoped to restore this one for myself.. This was my all-time very favorite bus, and I have had many, over the years. It has no engine, but I do have a real good one available (negotiable). The price listed is "as is", with transmission only.. no engine. There is only the tiniest bit of rust starting under the rubber on the front window (windshield) and this would be super easy to fix. It's hard to find buses this age without "cancer" (advanced rust) in this area, but this bus has come through the years in great shape! No evidence of any front end collision damage, ever! There is only a small damage in the back corner fender (driver's side), and a small damage to the fiberglass top over the driver's side, front. All the windows are good, but the window rubber seals have started to dry up and needs new tires. Really, this bus would be a fabulous candidate for a complete make-over, but with just a little work, it could be a daily driver and a great investment for the collector or even a flipper. There are some scratches, here and there and one piece of the "deluxe" trim is missing. I have a rear engine deck panel and rear bumper available for this bus (included). They are not the originals, but in really great shape! I also have an original style OEM oil bath air cleaner to throw in with this sale. I'm considering to start work on this bus, myself, if it does not sell quickly, and so there is a possibility that this sale could be pulled or that this bus could sell locally. If you are seriously interested, then better get it quick! I plan to be posting more images, so check back! One of the things I really love about this style of bus is that there is actually room to stand inside, and room overhead to store things.. both inside (under the fiberglass top) and outside on the rear luggage rack. At one time, this was fitted with a stove and sink, and some of the outside fittings are still there, so it would not be difficult to restore these features, if desired. Other customizations are possible, too! The top has sliders for better ventilation, and this is a real benefit in hot weather. Another high top bus with almost identical features just sold at auction on eBay for $2,800, so I thought I would use that price as a benchmark, with a "Buy it Now" price of $2,750. I can possibly deliver this little beauty in Southern California for a reasonable fee, but the buyer is responsible to arrange their own shipping costs and arrangements. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within three days, and balance due in seven days of sale.
