1977 Honda CB400F cafe racer "Alley Cat". This bike started it's rebirth found neglected in an alley in Miami, Florida (hence the nickname). It was entirely rebuilt with a mix of new parts and original old parts. Some things have been refinished and others left alone for a mild patina look. The engine was taken out of the frame and gone over. Compression tested high and a full internal rebuild was deemed not needed. It was cleaned up, given a full tune up, and a coat of ceramic engine enamel paint before being put back in the bike. The carbs were cleaned and rebuilt, as well as the ignition getting readjusted to within proper spec. A set of K&N filters and a stainless muffler help add a little extra performance and sound too. The engine paint was also given a distressed look recently to match the gas tanks patina. The frame had a custom rear hoop welded on, tabs for the stock battery mounts and airbox removed, and was then powdercoated gloss black. The wheels were also just recently powdercoated satin black and wrapped in a new set of vintage style Firestone tires. The gas tank was satin clear coated over the old patina and then had the lettering hand painted on by an old school sign painter. If you look close you can see the smaller letters are a light turquoise color. The seat was custom made for the bike and wrapped in marine vinyl. Underneath it is a small lithium battery and an upgraded charging system in a custom fabricated battery box. The front brake caliper has an upgraded stainless hose and new pads for increased stopping power as well. The wiring harness was redone and simplified. There are no buttons and only the ignition key under the tank. It is setup for kickstart only and always starts within the first kick or two, hot or cold. The electric start is still on the bike and could be functional again if you desired. The bike is very easy to kick even for someone who has never done it before. There have been about 3,000 miles put on it since being redone, and the original odometer that was on it said 11,000 although I can't say for sure how accurate that was. This bike needs absolutely nothing other than a new owner ready to enjoy it! It is a ton of fun to blast around town on. Everywhere this bike goes it forms a crowd.
