Vehicle Detail
1980 CorvetteL82 Offering a Corvette that needs a new home. I have been getting rid of several vehicles I own over the last couple of months due to health issues. I purchased this car about 6-8 months ago and have done a lot of work to her, but my health is failing and I just don't have the energy to finish some odds and ends. I purchased the car from a guy that had the car for a number of years. Story I was told was the cars owner had passed away, and a family member took off with the car and put it in hiding for some period of time. Supposedly that's the reason for the salvage title. When I looked at the car the engine was not running. The guy had replaced the intake manifold with a Edelbrock Performer manifold. It had a new Holley carb, new electronic distributor, new headers, but none of that was hooked up. It was brain candy to figure out where he had left off. I assembled all those parts and got the car to start ,run, and drive. Still needs to be tweaked on timing and carb adjustment a touch. Appears to have had brake work done recently including new hoses, shoes, discs. Several bushings in the rear suspension are new, new shocks, various other things. Car drives very tight and doesn't rattle. Tracks down the road nicely, stops fine. New battery installed. I just replaced the carpet with a set from Eckler's Corvette, as well as a new rear storage compartment door assembly. Those 2 items cost me 700.00. It is a very presentable car. Not show quality but a very nice driver. It is a numbers matching L82 with automatic transmission. Things it still needs are. Headlight vacuum lines will need to be hooked up at manifold. A/C compressor was removed, but still have it and brackets. Dial in the tuning, Hook the tach up to electronic distributor. Also a muffler shop will need to look at attachment from headers to factory exhaust. I installed some pre bent 90 tubing from O'reilly to get the exhaust hooked back to the factory Y pipe. When whoever took off the factory exhaust manifolds they sawzalled a section out before the Y. Whats on there works just hangs a little too low. Need to be shortened and rewelded. Like I said its a pretty clean little car, interior is in great shape other than it could use seat upholstery at some time but serviceable as is. Not all ratty, it truly has the feel of a 64,000 mile car that has been garaged its whole life. No rust evident in frame or birdcage. Very tight, very solid Vette. Please e-mail with any questions. Thanks for Looking!!
