Vehicle Detail
Hard to find a unmolested real Trans am out there. Time does not allow me to restore this one so it's going to be sold to the highest bidder. It has never been patched or bondo'd up. The tag indicates that it has not been on the road since 2003. There is significant rust on the car which I have shown in the pictures. It is stored in a climate controlled building. Decoding the VIN. 2=Pontiac W=Trans Am 87=2 door coupe Z=400 c.d.i. 4bbl v-8 6=1976 N=Norwood assembly plant 519908=production number. Decoding the Body tag. 71N+Firethorn Vinyl Deluxe Interior 36 paint code= Firethorn metallic 10E=Built the 5th week of October A31=power windows WS4=Trans Am A51=bucket seats This is a real Trans Am there is no doubt. Here is the good of the car.The under carriage is complete. It has the original Trans am sway bars.Factory PMD wheels. Hard to find the originals. It seems that the car has had one repaint that is at least 20 years ago. There are no signs of wrecks, or prior patch work or body filler. The glass is in really good shapeThe interior is complete and in decent conditionThis is factory A/C car but the compressor and evaporator have been removedAll the trim is on the car except the right rear glass revel molding. The engine is correct YZ 400 4bbl (pictures)The car has power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, tilt wheelThe dash and gauges seems intact and in good conditionThe seats are in great shape except for some splits but could easily be recovered.VIN is a positive identifier that this is a true Trans am with a YZ 400ci engine Automatic TransBody tag indicates the original color as shown both interior and exteriorIt is a posi traction rear differential. Here is the bad of the carThe car is going to need some patch panels or replacement body panelspanelsThe car does not run. It has sat for almost 15 years.. The oil looks pretty good but no attempt has been made to start it. I would budget for a complete engine rebuild. Transmission is Turbo 350. Which is correct for the car. The door latches do not work well which means the doors do not shut wellThe trunk hinge mounts are broke and it keeps the trunk from shutting properlyThe drivers door hinge area has a good bit of rust through going north up to the windshield area. Passenger side is good. The tires are 20 plus years old and don't hold airFolks this is going to be a project or a great parts car for someone. I have seen far worse cars restored to be like new. This car is going up in value every year. I have seen these sell in the $30 to $40K range with a decent restoration. I call my stuff on eBay the way it is. I do not have a 100% rating by misleading anyone. This is a no reserve auction. The high bidder at the end of the auction will be the new owner. Please have permission from whomever you need to get permission from prior to bidding on my car. Being high bidder does not give you the right to come look at the car and decided if you want to buy it. If you are the high bidder you are the next owner. Of course If I have blatantly misrepresented the car I would not expect you to buy it. I have not. It is a car that needs total restoration. I own this car outright there is no lien. Money must clear my bank before I will release the car or the ownership paperwork. On Jul-20-16 at 15:59:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to clarify that I could not open the passenger door area while on the lift. The right hinge area does have some rust but it is much better than drivers side. I want to make clear that I feel every panel on the car is going to need to be repaired or replaced. Finally, I appreciate all the bids.
